I had high expectations for my event at St Evie, having attended a friend’s function there a few years ago. I even booked nine months in advance to secure my date, but unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing.
The most significant issue was the lack of food. Despite being assured that the portion sizes were large and that the combination of canapés and one large cone meal would be sufficient, this was far from the case. My guests were left hungry, with none of my food allergy guests having any option to eat , my list of allergies was sent across weeks before and i was assured they'd be catered for but on the night they were not, and to make matters worse, we had to cut the cake ourselves without any serviettes or spoons provided—an embarrassing and frustrating situation.
When I raised my concerns, the response was disheartening. The CEO suggested that I should have ordered more food, seeing my start time was 7pm contradicting what I had initially been told. He also claimed that I declined cake-cutting service, which was never even offered. The CEO attempted to justify the food shortage by blaming my choice to split the large cone dishes across three options—something I was never warned would impact portion sizes.
While the staff on the night were good. I immediately emailed the Events Coordinator after my event and he was responsive, but there was only so much he could do. He then escalated my concerns to the CEO, but coming up nearly three months after the event, I am still waiting for a resolution. The silence speaks volumes.
