Had the need for some dinner last night and was in the mood for some Indian - Had not been to Shalimar for many years - back in the days when it was heavily curtained and probably under different ownership. The samosas were beautiful - pastry was just right -not too thick and not "gluggy" . The two sauces were tasty and highly complementary Raita - huge serving and very very good - perfect combination of ingredients and tasted just right. The lamb Korma - great flavours - mild was just the right level to complement the tender and high quality lamb. The ONLY disappointment was the quantity of lamb in the dish - for the price, I would have liked a bit more meat included with the very copious amounts of sauce. (I suggest it may have been an oversight - I can not believe it would be a policy to deliberately provide a reduced serving of meat - when everything else was just so exceptional.) Read moreTerrible experience!! Even though it is an Indian Restaurant, they don’t have the Indian atmosphere at all. Biriyani was just rice and chicken boiled with some colors. They don’t even serve raitha or sambal along with them. Everything is additional. What surprised me the most is they don’t have a wash basin , and they dont serve hand balls either. When I asked the waiter, he asked me to go to the washroom which was inside , the path to the washroom was very dirty and haunted. The washrooms were disgusting. It didn’t have a look of the front desk at all, i saw the kitchen when walking along the pathway, it looked very dirty as well. I was expecting a glass of water and was waiting to call someone, nobody gave a look atleast, once served they think they are done. I should say that i had a most disgusting...
Read moreMy family LOVE this place. this restaurants 25 years of existence highlights its tremendous success with Indian cuisine. It's clean, modern happy ambience with friendly quick service and a plethora of delicious meals ! the chefs are able to tailor your curries to mild medium or hot; and your choice of meats. They use fresh crisp ingredients, with delicious blends of herbs and spices. Unlike most indian restaurants who drown everything in fat/ghee; this host uses minimal oil but maximised the herbs & spices for an awesome flavour. My favourite is the punjabi lamb currie with fresh coriander on top. My children love the butter chicken ! The staff are so friendly and treat you like family. They are always so happy and smiley. We'll be back soon !! Thanks for the heartwarming delicious meals all very...
