Story So Far — Restaurant in Melbourne

We stayed at a hotel in the area and thought we would get some coffees and pastries to go for a walk. There were water taps for ambient, cold or sparkling water in the area where you wait for coffee, so we thought we would fill our water bottles for our walk.

It was either a manager or owner who came up to us and asked us to cease, and I thought he may have thought we weren’t paying customers, so I clarified we had ordered coffee, pastries and a juice and that we just wanted to refill our bottles, he promptly advised us to go to the store around the corner for water and that it was the equivalent to going to someone’s home and taking from them without asking and to make a donation towards the sparkling water. We thought this was a bit strange as we had spend $30 in the shop and meant no harm, even the barista apologised to us when he walked away. Fair enough if it is meant to be for dine-in or a staff regulated tap only, but there are more polite ways to say this. You can see from other posts that other customers have complained about the abuse they witnessed to staff, so that’s saying something. It’s a shame because the pastries were nice and the supporting staff...

I've always loved going there for a quick coffee. Most of the staffs are so friendly and nice. Unfortunately, the quality of coffee is so much depending on who's working on that day. Well, I guess it is same as any other cafe in the city. And in fact, the other day, I had really sour horrible coffee there. However that's not why I am giving them only 1 star. That's because they don't take negative feedback professionally. It doesn't matter if soy makes a bad latte sometimes or keep cups are not good for making a good coffee etc... The fact that they are selling a coffee and that's their business, they should make a good one or at least, when the customer pointed out that it wasn't good, they should take it seriously. If they cannot do that, then, they should hire someone that can make a nice smile like some cheap fast food restaurant. We are so disappointed on their coffee...

Pizza is amazing, but really lack of staff and I can feel how overwhelmed the man is when the place is filled with people.

The man constantly feeling so frustrated and even throwing napkins at my table.

Couldn’t finish a pizza I politely asked for a takeaway bag, he just gave a frustrated look and a sigh and moved on to serve another customer. I have even asked even I was ordering, in case I can’t finish can I please have it as takeaway and the answer was yes.

Perhaps being overwhelmed and being impolite to customer is very different things.

I just want to give a fair review for its quality of pastry and pizza dough; the lady serving coffee at cafe is amazing too. Just hoping the mixed review helps in overall improvement and hopefully they...
