2023 We had a great time at Tippy-Tay for dinner. The service was amazing and since we were celebrating, we got a glass of free prosecco each. For cocktails we had the passionfruit therapy, basil smash, spicy watermelon margarita and a frozen malfy g&t. These are our ratings for the cocktails: passionfruit therapy 10/10 basil smash 6/10 spicy watermelon margarita 6/10 frozen malfy g&t 7/10 We ordered the margherita pizza, pappardelle, spanner crab fusilli, roasted potatoes, marsala beef ribs, focaccia and fresh oysters. The margherita pizza had a smokey flavour and the dough was very tasty, we give this an 8/10. The pappardelle was my favourite out of the pastas we ordered, the lamb shoulder ragu was very soft and the pasta tasted great 8.5/10. I would give the spanner crab fusilli a 7/10, it's not something I would order again. The roasted potatoes were loved by everyone at the table, the garlicky flavour was just too good 9/10. The beef rib was very tender and just falling off the bone, it was also very loved by everyone 9/10. We did not like the focaccia, it was very, very chewy 5/10. The fresh oysters were fresh and they were okay, nothing very special 6/10. Overall, I would give Tippy-Tay an 8.5/10.

ADDITION: 2024 I have finally come back and forced my boyfriend to try them. We came here with our vegetarian friends so 99% of the food we ordered was vego friendly, yet SLAPPED so hard.

We had: Chilled Green Olives ($12.5) - If you know the olive theory you’d get this, I don’t like olives and my boyfriend likes them. They were huge olives and they were nice & chilled. Oysters ($7ea) - Good sized oysters and were super fresh. Mushroom + Scarmoza Arancini ($20) - The arancini was savoury and had good taste and texture. It came as a plate of 4 which was good cos we came as a 4. House Baked Focaccia ($8) - Last time I had it, I thought it was a bit hard and chewy, this time I thought the same, it was exactly the same as last time for me. Tomato Caprese ($19) - I didn’t have any of this because I don’t like raw tomatoes, but everyone else said it was really good and super fresh. Potato + Ricotta Gnocchi ($34) - Sauce coated the gnocchi well and I really liked the salty crunchy bits. Margherita Pizza ($34) - A really good classic wood fired pizza. Truffle e Fungi ($35) - I liked this one more than I thought I would, but this was a flavour bomb. Roasted Potatoes ($16) - super garlicky, all it was missing was a sauce to dip it in.

We also had some drinks: Negroni ($22.5) Passionfruit Therapy ($23.5) Limoncello Spritz ($20.5) Coconut & Watermelon Margarita ($23.5)

Definitely worth the visit, this will be one I will come back to, time & time again. Super good for a girls date as well if you’re down to go with some...

Food was incredible! The place is fantastic!

Unfortunately only at the very end did we strike a negative.

We stated a mental illness on our reservation to which we required a quiet table. The team were brilliant and ensured we had one.

They also allowed us to still keep our table although we were running late. It was our anniversary and we rarely dine out due to the extent of the illness. Understandably, we were very much looking forward to the experience.

Upon hearing of our Anniversary the team offered us a complimentary Tiramasu which passed the high standards of my born Italian fiancé.

Unfortunately being within close proximity to others makes the illness worse, and panic attacks often occur. I usually try to keep the situation calm and focused on the meal to prevent these.

At the end of the night the young waitress gave us the bill and stood quite close to my partner. In a panicking and awkward way my partner put the card on the plate with the receipt and I realised the girl had the eftpos machine so I passed it over to her.

Upon leaving the restaurant I looked for the girl to say thank you for her service. Unfortunately I heard her explain to the shorter, blonde host about how my partner was acting and how I gave her the card in a mocking way. They were both laughing and making a big joke out of it.

It’s a shame as we thoroughly enjoyed the experience until then. My partner was not aware, otherwise he would’ve been quite embarrassed.

I’ve worked in customer service for 21 years, worked for Emirates Airlines in First Class and currently manage a 5 star Luxury hotel on the Mornington Peninsula. This level of unprofessionalism really left me with a poor lasting impression.

The place itself and the quality of food is phenomenal so I do hope people continue to dine here.

However, I would encourage management to provide training on the company’s values and how to implement and uphold them during their shifts to avoid other customers with or without challenging circumstances to face what we did...

Just some caution - if you’re planning to visit, bring ID for age verification and avoid coming alone - particularly if you’re a man/poc because unfortunately you may be treated differently.

Booked here for my sister’s birthday and really had a poor experience. Really sad to see that profiling still exists til this day. We all were waiting for my brother to come in the restaurant but he was stopped by the door people twice because of how he dressed. Meanwhile I could easily see people walking in the restaurant laidback in hoodies, yet despite my brother explaining he’s apart of a reservation they kept denying. Door person even brought the manager to deny him not even bothering to cross check with the reservation. When I went to a waitress in the restaurant and told her they are denying access for my brother for what he’s wearing, she immediately responded "the venue has a dress code," and said she'd see what she could do without even checking the situation first. I was confused because the booking confirmation didn’t mention any dress code. When I brought this up, she said it was somewhere online but when I checked the website, it only stated "neat casual – sneakers and shorts allowed". I did not understand especially what he was wearing is completely fine even after getting multiple feedback from other people. After management was able to let him in, door people even made a snarky comment to stay off the bar despite him having no intention of going there. It was the passive aggressive tone and backhanded attitude that showed their true intentions. Honestly a belittling experience how the waitress handled it and although we tried to celebrate a special day for my little sister, food and service didn’t taste as amazing as how we were treated. Celebrated my birthday at Tippy-Tays with some friends - very impressed by this newly opened Italian restaurant within Garden State Hotel. The staff were so lovely and attentive despite the place being extra busy! Definitely recommend booking ahead since this place seems to be pretty popular right now. The drinks were all really good, fancy and tasted great! Had a decent amount of alcohol in them. 🍹Passionfruit Therapy (mocktail), Frozen Malfy G&T, Roman Holiday, Frozen Limoncello We ordered a side of Aranchini (4) as our entree and were given another 5 on the house. They were very tasty and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Spanner crab fusilli was amazing, a little spicy from the chilli but went so well with some chilli oil we were offered. Overall, tasty dish you really get what you pay for in terms of portion size. Conchiglie is the fancy name for the commonly known shell pasta, this dish was executed in an extraordinary manner where each element went together hand-in-hand, complimenting each other. Love how simple this dish seems but it’s flavours together so sophisticated. Lasagna dish was so filling and cheesy, definitely one of the better lasagnas i’ve had at a restaurant. Cooked to perfection and well seasoned. Pork Cotoletta is a fried crispy breaded pork cutlet that sits on a bed of house-made mustard sauce, served alongside some Tuscan Slaw. Absolutely loved the pairing of the sour mustard sauce and the pork cutlet. The slaw was so refreshing and fresh, the dressing had a hint of sourness that pulled it all together. So impressed by this meal! Complimentary chilli flakes, chilli oil and shredded parmesan cheese. 🍝 Cacio E Pepe Arancini (4), Spanner Crab Fusilli, Conchiglie, Last Night’s Lasagna, Pork Cotoletta
