I think my choice in going with Tusk for a light dinner before doing some late night shopping was the right one. I was immediately pulled in by the earthy decor of the restaurant, with the outside seating reassembling leaves and the table tops a clean varnished timber wood. The attractive waiters and waitresses are appropriately dressed to fit the theme in their subdued green uniforms. The table service is excellent, waiters were overall attentive but did not check up on the status/condition of the meal. There was also a miscommunication with the kitchen and floor staff which almost led to me missing out on the mouth watering kale and broccolini dish.
Total complements to the chef with his delectable entree dish that was the perfect dinner for a healthier eater like myself. I engulfed the beautifully presented green dish. The fresh lemon added appropriate tang to the velvet buttery and garlic-esque kale and broccolini. The sweet potato chips were more than a healthy serving but we're crisp to the bite which is exactly what you look for when ordering such a dish. Cannot stand other restaurants that happily serve soggy sweet potato chips. The star of the eating experience however was the sticky date pudding dessert. This defeated my healthy eating shamelessly so. The presentation rivalled television prepared dessert and tasted divine. The icecream was smartly separated as to not contaminate the perfection that is the date pudding. Moist, warm, and flavoursome.
Overall I recommend Tusk in the highest regard and will be coming back here to try a pizza some other day. I paid just under 25$ for this feast fit for a prince. Just come in and get served already. Special commendations to David, Jai and Rini who as a holy Trinity served me like clockwork and...
Read moreI've been going to Tusk for many years, since I was in high school. I used to love Tusk so much I would skip class for it; wrap myself in a blanket and drink coffee and smoke cigarettes while I studied for my English exam.
In my opinion, I believe Tusk is an integral part of not only the Windsor community but the entirety of Chapel street and other surrounding areas. People grew up with Tusk. And the funny thing about Tusk is that it is so many things simultaneously. The decor is probably my most favourite aspect: inside there are ornate details and small embellishments that satisfy my constant subconscious hunger to see beauty within my environment and surroundings. Antique furniture and Art Nouveau lamps, wallpaper of forest scenes and in the evening the candles make the place so cosy. The music is eclectic, which I enjoy. I notice it suits the context, ambience and the people at that particular time. The food, which I'd say is European and Mediterranean style, makes me feel full and wholesome. I highly recommend the Grazing Plate (literally a smorgasboard of cold meats, cheeses, olives, bread đ). The sticky date pudding with housemade butterscotch sauce is also the bomb.
Thank you Tusk for being around, for being a place I found succour and comfort in through all kinds of times in life, thanks for the nostalgia and thanks the coffee at strange times when 7/11 coffee is the only other...
Read moreWe came after work and waited to be attended but the waitress was too busy sharing her political thoughts to other customers. As Spaniard I also felt offended with those thoughts. I don't think a cafe is the right place to discuss about Catalonian independence, specially while other customers wait to order food or drinks. I won't come back.
Previous times I also experienced long waits and cold coffee.
Edited after reply: First, I invite you to check again your CCTV or telling the truth. Don't misunderstand me. I value freedom of speech everywhere. What I don't feel appropriate is to talk about politics, whatever those ideas are in your workplace, specially when somebody else is waiting while you share your views. I understand if that is not a problem for you and laziness and slow service works for you. I won't come back, because is my right as it is to give a 1 star due to the poor service offered. In a global world supporting nationalism in big or small scale whatever the side it is, it's very different than supporting freedom of speech. If you're interested about nationalism read about Pompeu Gener or Sabino Arana in Spain, not to mention Hitler, Stalin or Mao Tsedong, Pinochet, Mussolini, Franco... Racism, xenophobia, exalting differences between human beings because of the place they were born are far away from freedom of speech because they your rights end where the rights of...
