Do you remember when a bunch of Melbourne restaurants served beef tartare? And then the health inspector got involved and places stopped being able to make it? Yeah they missed a spot… Ordered: - lobster role 3/10 - beef tartare (allegedly) 1/10 - tagliatelle 2/10 - ragu 4/10 Lobster - (let’s be honest it was subway quality lobster) rolls were probably the highlight, wouldn’t have been disappointed if I got served them at a work event, but for a restaurant I’d expect better Beef tartare - was abysmal, like cheeseburger vibes, immensely overpowering pickles, low quality meat and just an overall disaster. Tagliatelle - resembled a furball my friends cat had coughed up, while I haven’t tasted that I can’t imagine it was much worse than whatever this was trying to be Ragu - if you’ve had my muscle chef meals before than you’ve experienced this dish, no disrespect to MMS for $8.95 it’s a bargain, for $36 you start questioning where the chef got their qualifications, was it a cereal box? Honestly unless you’re suffering from depression or have a kink around sadisim (and you enjoy hating yourself) then this isn’t the place for you. If you’ve ever eaten so much as a campbells soup tin or a freezer meal save your money and just enjoy that more. The only saving grace, and the reason this gets 2 stars is that the waitress was quite polite (do yourself a favour and find a new place to work please, you deserve better)

A seriously stunning bar that only got more beautiful as darkness fell. They were also unveiling a brand new cocktail list and I fell in love with the blue dream which was a gin based beverage with a hint of absinthe and creme de violettes. As we were awaiting our food our came the most delicious warm bread. I was trying to abstain from carbs and thought I would just try it but with one bite I knew I had to eat it all. We then had the buratta (which came with more bread) sitting on a lovely hazelnut and pistachio crumb. The plating was fantastic and it was a truly yummy way to start. Next we had the eggplant chips which were perfectly crunchy and very well seasoned and then the main event the eye fillet with tarragon butter and duck fat potatoes. Ever so slightly over salty but the potatoes were delectably crisp and the dish looked as phenomenal on the plate as it tasted. We finished the meal with the baked goats cheese with honey, mint and flatbread. A lovely little light way to end. I’ve never really had mint in this classic combination and it worked really well to give it a some freshness. We were overall hugely impressed by this venue

It can be challenging to teach the concept of true Hospitality. The skills of carrying a tray, more than two plates at a time, of how to open and pour a wine; those are about practice and repetition. I'm talking about the soft skills that raise an experience from a simple eat and drink, to something that made you feel welcome, appreciated and wishing to return for another dose of good times. There are experts with far more authority and experience than yours truly, however I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. A smile when you enter, a greeting that is authentic, asking what your preferred tastes and tipples may be. Genuinely listening to what is said by a guest, perhaps deciphering non-hospo speak and offering subtle suggestions of a path leading to happy memories. Tegan at INES epitomises and excels at the pure art of hospitality. Quick-witted, caring, knowledgeable, efficient, and with that knack for being on hand when required, yet unobtrusive service that seems to understand that you may not be there to be entertained. Bravo, INES. Ambience, drinks, staff - all five stars.

We can not speak highly enough of this superb venue and all of the crew here. An initial short enquiry with Kane, who was amazingly professional, calm and welcoming, culminated in a perfect surprise 60+3 cocktail style Birthday party for a partner who is very well travelled and exposed to ‘the best’. The Manager, Tegan, was simply outstanding from our initial sit down and discussion to plan the event. She just ‘got it’. And was a hell of a lot of fun along the way. Every aspect from the surprise itself, the food, drinks, service, ambience, atmosphere, music and all the little nuances was perfect. The venue itself is very club like, with rich decor, amazing comfort, classy, cosy and right on Chapel St. We hired the entire venue on a Saturday night, with plenty of room for the 45 guests, with separate lounge, stand up chat and relax areas for a big variety in ages. The organisation from Tegan was honestly the best experience we could have wished for. She totally understood our brief and worked tirelessly to see that every aspect was perfect. Some of the best cocktails and wines we have tried, to lobster rolls, scallops, incredibly fresh oysters, caviar, kingfish, pasta dishes, fried olives, duck fat potatoes and numerous other delicious canapés. Absolutely delicious!! All delivered by the most friendly, welcoming, obliging staff you could meet. They genuinely enjoyed the night too, with so many of our guests absolutely raving that it was the best venue they had experienced. Might I add, there were some pretty tough customers there too! I have never been to an event where the staff worked the floor so brilliantly and ensured everyone was so well cared for. It’s almost deflating now that such a fantastic experience is over, although we have been back for cocktails and canapés since. So to Tegan, Kane and everyone involved, thank you so much for making the surprise such a memorable and outstanding one. We honestly could not have chosen a more perfect setting and we’re incredibly grateful for how special you made Shane’s evening. We and all our guests couldn’t sing your...

Dined at Ines last night on their Wednesday steak night. This was my first time eating here (usually just pop in for a drink). The food was surprisingly good, potatoes were super crispy and the bread was delicious. However, the service really needs improvement…The waiter failed to even explain / promote the steak night to us. We advised we had read about it online and would like to order that for our dinner. The waiter didn’t take the opportunity to explain it further and what was included. We understood a glass of wine was included so order two. When the time came to pay our glasses of wine were on the bill. We queried this and were told a glass of wine was included but we hadn’t ordered the correct wine. It’s concerning that at no point did our waiter advise that the wine we ordered was not included, nor offer us the wine that was included, nor even tell us what wine was included! Effectively we ended up paying for drinks and not getting the wine that was included in the promotion. Sloppy service. If you are offering a promotion night your staff should explain what it includes and ensures those dining on the offer experience it in...
