I recently ordered a buffalo mozzarella margarita pizza from this restaurant. I drove home directly from the restaurant, then immediatley sat down to eat my meal approx' 15 minutes later. The pizza was overcooked, so the pizza crust around the outside tasted burnt and dry (ie: more burnt than normal light charring). The centre of the pizza was like wet paper and mostly fell into a sloppy pile into the centre of the box. Only about 10% of the pizza was edible...the rest tasted terrible. So having had a good experience dealing with the Manager at Farro Fitzroy, I emailed a complaint to him and received no response. I then emailed my complaint to the Manager of the Windsor restaurant on 18th August and got no response. I subsequently sent two follow-up emails on 20 August and 22 August and again got no response. In the end, it took a total of 4 emails and 2 calls to the Windsor restaurant for the Manager to agree to offer just 50% off my next pizza. I then complained that the pizza was overcooked and inedible, and she then reluctantly offered to replace the pizza at no cost. So I came into the restaurant tonight and ordered the gnocchi mushroom ragu in lieu of a pizza, as I thought it would be harder for their kitchen staff to screw up. I was wrong. The gnocchi didn't look anything like the picture on their website! Their was no organic tomatoes, onion or goats cheese as per the ingredients posted on their site. It was basically gnocchi piled with a tonne of mushrooms with garlic, chilli and herbs, and would be what i'd expect from a roadhouse petrol station in the middle of nowhere. I also ordered a tiramisu which again didn't look anything like the picture on their website which shows tiramisu with atleast 50% layered cake/buscuit to mascarpone/cream filling ratio. The tiramisu I was given was about 90% mascarpone/cream with dusted chocolate on top. Basically it was like eating a slab of cream and was a complete disappointment. Increasing the mascarpone/cream to cake/buscuit ratio as high as possible seems to be a dirty little secret in the restaurant industry to increase profit. This restaurant is evidently poorly managed. So it's no surprise the food they turn out is also of a poor standard. They richly deserve a 1 star rating, and they've lost my business which, ironically, will probably make their Manager happy. Seems they just want non-discerning customers who will eat anything they serve them and...
Read moreOn a lovely evening, my fiancé, mother, and I set out to Chapel St following a few friends to dine at a restaurant separate to where they booked. As we were ambling past, we chanced upon Farro and decided to venture in, eager to sample their cuisine. To say that we were impressed would be an understatement. From the moment we stepped inside, we were swept away by the ambiance - the warm, inviting lighting, the subtle yet elegant decor, and the hushed chatter of fellow diners, all coalescing into a feeling of understated sophistication.
The service was beyond reproach, with the waitstaff exuding a sense of professionalism, attentiveness, and warmth that put us at ease right away. My mother had celebrated her birthday a few days earlier, which we had mentioned in passing, but we were touched by the staff's thoughtfulness in taking note of it. They surprised her with a charming birthday greeting and a candle on our after-dinner dessert, which was a wonderful way to cap off an already exceptional evening.
As for the cuisine, we were blown away by the gourmet offerings. Unlike the typical blandness that plagues many French and Italian-inspired dishes, Farro's cuisine boasted an abundance of flavor, body, and complexity. Every bite was a revelation, with each dish tantalizing our taste buds with a symphony of flavors and textures that left us wanting more.
The understated heritage-inspired atmosphere added to the overall experience, imbuing the restaurant with a sense of history, tradition, and cultural richness. It was an immersive dining experience that left us feeling satisfied, content, and grateful. If you're looking for a restaurant that goes above and beyond in every aspect, then Farro is the place to be. I cannot recommend it enough and wish that I could give the service more...
Read moreI had accidentally booked the bar instead of the restaurant at Tyranny of Distance for my birthday, so we couldn’t eat there. I had called another restaurant and had no luck booking last minute for 11 people. I called Farro pizza thinking my luck wouldn’t change, but these guys not only showed up for us, but overdid it. They got a table ready in a matter of 10 - 15 minutes and we had the whole of upstairs to ourselves. All workers were extremely kind and understanding and didn’t hold any grudge or anger over the fact it was a last minute booking for 11. They were extremely kind and understanding and not only met all our needs, but exceeded them. Our waitress, Maggy, came upstairs several times, took all our drink orders, and returned swiftly to deliver the drinks. Then took our food order and the food all came in for everybody in a matter of about 50 minutes. Maggy came in to check that everything was good and also allowed us to store the birthday cake in the fridge. I highly recommend this restaurant, not only for the service, but the food. There’s an awesome vegan menu and I was blown away with these pizzas. They are some of the best pizza/s I’ve ever had. I had shared a vegan CAPRICCIOSA and vegan FUNGHI pizza plus vegan arancini balls. They were absolutely delicious, but if you are a mushroom person, the FUNGHI pizza really stole the show for me. Mixed with the truffle oil, the mushrooms were just so delicious and the pizza base is just awesome too, not too crunchy and fairly soft. The arancini balls were also a BIG hit with everybody, even a couple of non-vegans that I gave a piece to try. Thanks so much guys for accomodating to us and kindly accomodating to our last minute reservation. You exceeded our expectations and really saved the day! Would come back here in a...
