Vargas Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Melbourne

I stayed 2 nights at the Holiday Inn. On the first night after checking in late I tried to have dinner in the restaurant, but was told no spots available and no other restaurants within walking distance. Booked the second night for 6. Given my table and within a couple of minutes was ready to have someone take my order. Seems staff preferred to stay by the counter and chat to each other. Keeping in mind it is a hotel restaurant and bar, we were pleasantly surprised during our stay at Holiday Inn. Food was excellent, served quickly and staff were attentive. Every staff member greeted my baby and spoke to him which was lovely, and the provision of children's crockery and cutlery, including bibs was a great addition! It's a hotel restaurant and bar... So it is pretty much what you would expect.. Average at best.. My partner ordered the the duck grazing platter - I would not recommend this at all! On the menu, it sounds delicious, in reality, is it hugely disappointing.
