Without going into detail, I've been taking family of 5 traveling on business class with Qantas before but never travel business class alone, and never received treatment like this from other airline business lounges. I've got a trip booked and confirmed in December and needing to make another trip in between now and Dec so I want to make sure this won't happen again in my future trips with Qantas an I'm an Asian woman traveling alone without my Australian husband in the next couple of trips and I do not fit in with your stereo type Australian when I'm occupying a seat in business class.
Business lounge HK: I was walking around the lounge as most of the empty seats in the dinning area were reserved, regardless whether they've got the 'reserved' sign on it or not, I was told. After 5 minutes of walking around the lounge, I realized these seats were reserved for couples or Australian males. These two categories of travelers were the ones that I saw the serving staff removing the 'reserved' sign away and welcome them to sit down. The rest of us were directed to sit on the round table together.
Please note, Qantas, your customers are the ones that are already there, speaking to you directly, not those invisible 'future' travelers, regardless of their skin color or gender. I didn't get a discounted price when purchasing the ticket nor would I expected to receive the discounted service than anyone else.
I hope I'll be back to update my review in December if Qantas HK business lounge has improved their customer service skills and quality and make their customers...
Read moreThis lounge is a bit of a dungeon with a severe lack of natural lighting, and due to its layout, it certainly isn’t relaxing. Children run wild and there is no section where you can sit in peace and quiet. At night the staff start closing sections for cleaning and breakfast setup. This is poorly signed. I set myself up to have some dinner in what seemed to be a dining area (as I wished to sleep on my red eye flight). After I collected my meagre fare from the self service bar I went back to the dining place (where I had left my carryon) only to be rudely confronted by a staffer who told me it was closed. Sign? A wet floor sign? You’ve got to be kidding! Next time I will sit and eat there regardless-what can they possibly do to me? Get the lounge manager? I’m a full fare J class frequent flyer customer... I expect to be able to use the facilities I’ve paid for in peace. The showers have grime in the corners and desperately need to be cleaned with a brush that can get into these places (once a week would keep the gross bits in check). That said, the front of house staff were lovely. It’s a pity that boarding the A330 was a nightmare too. One door? The front door only? If you are boarding through one door, USE THE SECOND! That way the entire complement of pax don’t need to walk through J class, needlessly wearing...
Read moreOverall better than I expected (based on reviews I see in forums). Yeah place feels a bit dated and cold (or maybe it was meant to feel exclusive from all the mood light around), so the upcoming refresh is much welcome. Regardless it has all the friendly staff and facilities you need - food, drinks, decent chairs and showers
2.5-3.8/5 depending on what you get. I had the plate of day (egg and bacon roll 😋) that was really tasty, but the rice dish that day was okay. Better than the butter chicken and Moroccan dish I had previously in other Qantas lounges. Regardless beef stew was real meh - swimming sauce (well towards the bottom), lacks interesting flavour any key and the beef was dry (beef was pretty lean). The beef stew I had in the following economy flight was miles better, like real tasty 😋 (I want it again). The steamed rice was really dry. Veggies and potatoes were honestly better. I think just better and substantial protein options in the future would do it for me.
The staff was real friendly an attentive. It's was my first time in this lounge, so it was real helpful that they asked if it my first time there and provided directions to the showers on entry. Food was refreshed quickly, and announcement were made (good things). Overall just felt staff were warm, chill and...
