I've only been a customer over the years due to limited choice in Coffs CBD... However .. AND l am not the only one, find that dining at Cocoa can be a reluctant practice when the female owner is on the premise. Does this woman own a dictionary? If so, l suggest she look up the meaning of the word HOSPITALITY! Then she should re read CUSTOMER RIGHTS! Never have l seen this person greet me or anyone with a welcoming smile ...instead a mean and rigid expression. Therefore can you imagine how she reacted the last time l lunched with my friends when l dared to point out that 2 vegetables were missing from my blackboard menu meal. The Barramundi was supposed to come with Brocolli and seared cherry tomato. In its place a small overboiled flavouless limp Bok choy and 2 small asparagus spears, and for $32.00 a really small portion of Barra on top like that was making a culinary statement! Anyway lady owner didn't believe me, she pulled a snarly face. went outside to check the Blackboard and saw l was right. So....Instead of having the decency to apologise she said "Well we ran out of Barramundi and also the vegetables that go with it" By the way it was only 12.30 so that was a pathetic excuse! This woman made no attempt to rectify the situation and arrogantly said well we gave you asparagus.. dah!! Then l said "but l hate bok choy l was looking forward to eating what l ordered not something else so what are you going to do about it?" She rolled her eyes and than with her usual arrogance said "oh well l will take 10% of your meal" and then with a look and tone of condescension she added "That will be $3"
Need l say more!! l and others that l know avoid going to her restaurant when she is there. She is a disgrace to any hospitality business! A rude base person with little idea of how to treat customers. I can only add her wait staff have always been lovely but lve also noticed the turn over is rather frequent. Hmmm a horrible...
Read moreCocoa Cafe is a modern cafe/restaurant, with a predominately white interior, the built in shelving and recessed lighting, beautifully accentuating the dark wooden counter and the dark mahogany table tops, with white chairs. A lime feature wall, with a large modern painting, creates a light bright dining area. Either side of the entrance are built in upholstered seating, lit with unusual rope hanging lamps. Against one wall is more upholstered built-in seating scattered with assorted colourful cushions coordinated with modern art works above, creating a comfortable relaxing ambience. Street-side are table and chairs, with sun umbrellas, good for people watching. From an excellent breakfast menu, i chose, scrambled eggs on sour dough toast, with bacon, prepared and presented to perfection finishing with a very well made "Botero espresso". The counter display of assorted cakes looked so inviting I had to have one with my coffee. The most requested cakes are, carrot cake, and orange-almond, all cakes are prepared daily in the kitchen, absolutely divine. For me this cafe/ restaurant ticks all the boxes, excellent food, comfortable surrounds, attentive table service, the morning papers, Wifi, great coffee, and affordable. When next in town, this is...
Read moreTried going there 3 times stood at the door for way to long as it says wait for service and no one came. Moved on to next cafe where was great service. Sat myself the 4th time I went there but was spoke To horrible because it’s table service and you need to be sat. Wanted a Nutella hot chocolate which is $9.90, I’m lactose intolerant so asked for no cream. Turns out that’s a normal hot chocolate which is priced at $4.90 ? Asked for an extra plate and the big nose man said he had given us one when we wanted an extra for my grandmother as the 2 of us were sharing a big breakfast. Would have spent more money and brought food to take home but decide to go get cakes and scones from the cafe next door. Don’t usually leave bad reviews because it’s easier to speak to the waitress about the issue but when you try to go to a cafe 4 times and each time your brushed to the side like a peasant by Sadie waitress’s it’s worth leaving...
