The food was very tasty and the service from the staff was excellent and attentive. The night was a pleasant experience with nothing but pleasant exchanges with the staff.
There were nine of us at our table, we understood from the beginning there was a 10% surcharge for a Sunday, and that they did not split bills.
3/4 of the way through the night, one lady left and she paid $64 at the counter which was her amount due.
At the end of the night we got the final bill and it was around $495, it was noted the $64 was paid via eftpos but had not come off the total amount due.
We politely queried this to the owner who instantly became rude and said too bad, we don’t split bills. We said, no the bill total is incorrect, he again stated we don’t split the bill, and pointed to the sign, he was then becoming dogmatic, we said “no you’re not hearing us, the total amount we owe is not what your bill is stating as its not taking into consideration the $64 paid”
He grabbed the bill out of our hand in an aggressive manner and printed up another bill. He gave it to us, and this one had a total that was actually $120 higher. We had sat at our table prior, and tallied the bill and added the surcharge so we knew the exact total and what each couple was to pay. We could not figure out how this one was now higher still.
When we explained it to him, he said just pay evenly amongst you. We shared we had no problem paying what was due plus the 10%, but they had given us three bills all for the same food but all with different totals dues.
A staff member and we assume his wife understood, but he literally pushed them out of the conversation.
After we said we weren’t paying $120 more than what was due, he redid the bill. This time it tallied up with what we owed.
No one swore, nor did anyone raise their voices, but his mannerisms was aggressive, and his attitude was rude and he was frustrated with the point of sale machine but instead of acknowledging that there was an error with the till he instead made a very rude and uncalled for remark to one of the women In our group. Who was nothing but polite in trying to sort out the issue.
Even though the food was great, and the service from the girls was brilliant, he lost nine customers tonight. I did notice him once prior in the evening and I recall thinking, gosh someone’s in a bad mood.
We’re all capable of bad moods, but if you’re in the hospitality industry and your customers had nothing but a pleasant exchanges with your staff and a lovely meal, then perhaps a good rule is to not alienate your customer because of your bad mood.
Instead of fixing the problem we felt he NEEDED to be RIGHT. Whilst the three ladies from our table politely dealt with this, the men had waited for us outside, plus were all business owners ourselves, what we all agreed upon was that his aggressive need to be right attitude could easily have intimidated and scared other customers perhaps less confident. Who may have just paid up out of anxiety.
We had been at Fringe during the day, had seen a show and had a lovely dinner, it was a pity this owner who just didn’t want to listen not that he couldn’t he DIDN’T spoiled our end of...

𝑩𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒍 𝑪𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒌𝒆𝒏 Tandoor-roasted to juicy perfection, this had a balance medley of heat 🔥, aromatics, & herbs 🌿 The tomato kachumber added acidity & brightness which further elevated the overall dish!
𝑷𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝑽𝒊𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒍𝒐𝒐 𝑺𝒍𝒊𝒅𝒆𝒓 This version is bold & satisfying 🍔 Hitting all the right notes, spicy 🌶️, tangy, sweet, & tender. Loved the Indo-Chinese Manchurian sauce!!!💗
𝑪𝒐𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑭𝒊𝒔𝒉 𝒊𝒏 𝑩𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒏𝒂 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒇 The 🐠 was sooooo succulent, absorbing all the complexity of the mustard seeds, tamarind, & Kashmiri chilli 🌶️ paste. When cooked with the banana leaf, its aroma & earthiness infuses into the dish, imparting a subtly sweet finish❣️
𝑩𝒂𝒔𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊 𝑷𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒖 Aaaaaa I LOVEEDD THIS🥹 Fermented for 24 hours, the naan was pillowy soft, charred ard the edges, & unforgettable when slathered w the cultured sesame & chilli butter 🧈

Read moreThe food was not bad. Some food was way too spicy hot. The non alcoholic mango lassi was way overpriced for the amount you got, (prepared, no alcohol and $10 for maybe 250 mil… never again) however the amount of food that came out on the $65 each meal where the small plates of everything just keeps coming out was great.
Usually you can’t get this sort of meal unless you have a minimum of 6, or 10. The minimum here is 2.
The first one of the meals is some chilli shot glass thing, I personally didn’t go much on that. Others seemed to love it and were ordered 3 and four for themselves. Not for me that’s for sure. I tried it, however… Narr. The rest of the small meals that came out were pretty good except for the last one. The naan 🫓 bread on the last meal was awesome, but watch the food it comes with. Waayyy to spicy for me.
The service was a bit… okay. We think we got forgotten initially as the first part of the meal didn’t come out for about 25 minutes. We said we had less than an hour left and then the food was one after the other fast. Until the dessert… for some reason another 20 minutes went past until the dessert came out.
I think the order of the food could do with a revamp as well. One dish came out that was so spicy you couldn’t taste the next meal. (I think it was the one before the fish. I can’t remember.
Presentation of all meals was good as well.
No music playing… not even lightly. Not really any “sound” atmosphere was created until a very loud group of 20 odd women came all sitting on one table, and one woman would laugh so loud it would bounce off the back wall where we were seated and we couldn’t hear each other talk at all less than 30cm from each other.
The visual atmosphere was nice though.
Don’t go to the back wall and think that will be cosy and out of the way. Anyone loud comes in and you’ll be...
