On 19 February 2021 at approximately 10.49pm, my friends and I entered Brass Monkey to have a few drinks.
We went up to the rooftop bar and had a seat while 2 of my girlfriends went to order a drink. They ordered 4 jager shots and the bartender requested we took the shot at the bar. We did as told. A while later, I heard from my friend that her boyfriend was presumed to be drunk, hence unable to buy alcohol. He was given a glass of water to sober up. Firstly, my friend was not drunk cause if he was, security wouldn't have allowed him to enter the premises and secondly the bartender shouldn't have served the first round of alcohol. However that is least of my concern because I believe he was just doing his job and trying to follow his RSA. I found that reasonable and awhile later my other girlfriend and I went to the bar to order our drinks. While preparing our drinks the bartender said that he hope this drinks are for ourselves and I assured him. He repeated that he doesn't wanna see him (my guy friend drinking). I told him again that the drinks are for us and I would appreciate if he stops assuming that we were going to give our friend the drinks. The bartender wasn't too happy with what i said and responded " today is not the day. I'm having a bad day!" - he was rude.
I responded that it doesn't matter what kind of a day he was having, but I am here as a customer , buying my drink (paying for it) and I will appreciate if he could show some respect.
At this stage, he lost his cool and contacted security to have me removed. ( his words - I want her out)
Security arrived immediately and told me to leave. I asked under what grounds are they removing me as I was not drunk or behaving in a disorderly manner. He said if I refuse to leave, he will have to physically remove me from the premises. I requested for their names and I wasn't given. I didn't wish to cause any dramas. I requested to speak with the manager and I wasn't allowed to. He ensured I was out of the premises and when I tried to explain the situation to the security outside , I was just laughed at. At this stage I was just absolutely disappointed with their service.
The bar tender and security were rude. I wasn't give a chance to explain myself and was treated lowly. I felt humiliated by the entire thing.
I didn't realise that I can be removed from a premise because the bartender was not having a good day.
I hope the management will provide me with an explanation as to why my friends and I were asked to leave...
Read moreFirst time in Perth saw the Brass Monkey open for lunch so decided to go there, we walked into an old establishment which in it's time would have been beautiful, we walked upstairs and decided to sit outside on the balcony for the view, we got a bit of shock when we saw how much of a tilt was on the balcony and surprised it would be up to the building codes. We ordered lunch a garlic bread, steak meal, chicken burger and the pulled beef baguette. We waited over twenty minutes for anything to come which for steak we thought was a reasonable amount of time, we literally got a plate with hard chard broccolini a few small potatoes and a piece of rump $38 and I received my chicken burger a handful of chips the burger was two pieces of deep fried chicken with slaw slapped in a bun $24. The broccolini wasn't cooked through it was raw and steak had grissle through it also nothing was seasoned the chips were plain after receiving those meals it was another ten minutes and I walked downstairs to see were the rest of food was as the two youngs lads putting out the food looked confused and flustered as an influx of patrons had come on so very understaffed for a Friday lunch I finally got help and the rest of my food which when we finally got to eat it it was cold and tasteless. The only good outcome of it all was the lad called Benny who was so apologetic for the wait. Overall expensive tasteless food and wouldn't recommend it...
Read moreMy husband and i went to see Irish comedy show for the fringe festival at brass monkey the show was fantastic. They need air condition on it was so hot in the red room. The pub had no air con on either so hot too. The bar up stairs should have been open if there is a function on instead if walking up and down the stairs. The food was great 5 star rating that was the best of the pub after that it gets worse. The guy Jamie that was supposed to be serving the food was very slow kept disappearing so we had to collect our own food as we saw it sitting under the warmer. Jamie also delivered food and as he was walking with the food i saw him take some off the plate and eat it. Jamie was also standing around talking to a girl bar staff member while the chef was ringing the bell. The place is very very filthy dirty needs a good clean. Not enough staff for such a big hotel, lots of empty glassses and dirty tables with food etc. Staff should have a cleaning cloth in there belts to wipe down tables so makes light work for all around. No staff seem to be interested in cleaning. Instead of the owner apologising about cleaning on these reviews do something about it. Only been once and definitely...
