Horrendous customer service from a young female staff member who said her name was Sophie but i doubt she gave me her real name I came in on Sunday to buy my favourite apple and rhubarb tart and a coffee The coffee was made by a young man When he served the coffee it was scalding hot I burnt myself picking it up I asked if I could have an extra cup so I could at least hold it He very politely gave me another cup and wished me a lovely day. As I started to walk out of the shop the cup overheated I gave it to my friend who had a taste of the coffee and burnt his mouth at this point we decided to get a refund we went back into the shop and explained the situation thinking it would be a straight fwd process the first staff member who was also a female looked confused and was shocked we asked for a request to get a refund issued she opens the lid of the coffee and stared at the drink I have no idea why she decided to do that. This is when so called Sophie came along and told us in a very condensing way that every coffee they make is served hot we explained to Sophie that we have had plenty of coffees before there’s a difference between serving a drink hot and serving it scaling hot she took offence to our response and pulled a face she started smirking at us and laughing the other staff members asked what was wrong and she very sarcastically said while smirking “ohhh there coffee is to hot” I told her she’s being rude and there’s no need for her to talk to us that way she then yelled at my friend and I telling us to take our money and leave she said this 3 times while smirking I confronted her about her behaviour towards the customer and that we haven’t done anything wrong and there’s no need for her to speak to us that way she then told us we were to intense we were so shocked at her response she continued to behaviour this way until a refund was issued by another staff member who apologised and offered us another coffee we kindly declined as we just wanted our money back the owner of this shop needs to take a serious look at this girls behaviour this was a very traumatising and dehumanising experience from Sophie people are entitled to refunds mocking the customer and making fun of them is so unprofessional and a form of Bullying this situation could of been handled so differently she completely disrespected myself and my friend in front of the whole shop. All because she didn’t want to give us a $6 refund not to mention serving coffee scaling hot is a liability in their end having a barista background I can confidently say this coffee was dangerous to serve to a customer Judging from previous reviews about their customer service being atrocious I can see the owners don’t care and have blamed the customer in the past just know that when people go out to pay for an item part of that money is that their paying for the service and it was TRULY SHOCKING! Read moreAfter visiting Portugal and having so many delicious Pastel de Nada (Portuguese tarts), I have craved a good Portuguese tart but never been able to find one in Perth... until now!
I ordered one tart from here, expecting to be like the others I'd had around Perth - soft, gluggy and bland. I was pleasantly surprised from the first bite of the tart from Cafe Pastel. So crisp and flaky with delicious creamy custard. I just HAD to get a second one AND then I just had to get four to take and share with my mum, so that she would realise what a real Portuguese tart should be like.
I tried both the apple and rhubarb; and the banana and Nutella. Both were delicious. Seeing dozens of them being pulled out of the oven, followed by heaps of customers had me knowing that what I had eaten was very likely to have been made fresh today!

I hesitated for a second, but the staff’s hand gesture made me think he was telling me to go ahead and tap. So I did — and ended up paying the wrong amount. Then he asked me to tap again for my own order.
