For our first road trip in 12 months to Port Campbell and we score the Germanic Basil Fawlty.

After seeing dog friendly signage, and dog bowls outside the venue we decided to inquire inside if we could sit outside or inside with our medium sized dog. (30kg).

We decided to sit outside, despite there being multiple dogs inside at the time, two of which were border collies, (larger than our dog).

After ordering outside, it started to rain and having previously asked if it was ok to bring the dog inside, we decided to move inside, of which there were plenty of spaces because the venue was not very busy.

We promptly told staff as we had moved inside as not to confuse the food order and there were no issues raised from the staff present regarding bringing our dog inside.

After sitting down, 2 minutes had passed when we were then very rudely and aggressively rushed out of the venue by an older woman likely the owner. We complied and moved outside and forced to sit in the rain.

What was most shocking about the experience was this women’s commentary regarding our dog. Saying he was too big to be inside and then exclaimed, “what would a child like that, think of a dog like this!” The child was in another room.

There is no animosity to any of the younger staff. And if there was indeed a larger dog policy she clearly did not give the time or proper training to her staff to communicate this. Nor were the other couple with the two larger border collies asked to leave in such a rude manner.

It’s not a surprise that looking at these Google reviews there seems to be a broad amount of commentary regarding this particular woman.

Food was poor and overpriced. The bitter beer indeed left a bitter taste in our...

My friends and I were traveling on the Great Ocean Road and had stopped in Port Campbell for one night. One of our friends booked a hostel room at a brewery, and we had heard good reviews about their beer, so we went there for a glass. From the first interaction, the lady at the bar made it clear she didn’t like us. I tried to engage in small talk, but it didn’t work out. The bar (or as they call it, the restaurant, even though they only serve frozen pizzas) has a large area with tables and chairs, as well as a big lounge area with couches and board games. After our beer, we sat down on one of the sofas. I took off my shoes and covered myself with one of the provided blankets, while my friend sat on the carpet, and we started playing Uno, which was provided by the bar.

The lady from the bar came over and said other customers were complaining because I had my feet on the couch and my friend was sitting on the floor (???!!!). She literally asked us to leave. We really didn’t understand what was wrong because we were quiet and didn’t see anyone complaining. Then she said, “You’re probably from Italy (?????!!!)." None of us are Italian, and I have no idea what problem this lady has with Italians, but I’ve never felt so unwelcome anywhere.

And if the issue was that we had only ordered one drink each, she could have...

A friend of mine was staying in that hostel so we went to the brewery to hang up and play some table games. Well, the lady seemed annoyed by our presence since the first time tha she saw us. We were playing cards in a corner sitting on the couches, not being loud or disturbing at all, and I sat ont floor just to be closer to my friend's while we were playing, and my other friend grabbed a blanket and she just put her feet on the coach. She came to us saying that other costumers were complaining about us (which it is a big lie), because I was sitting on the floor and my friend with the feet on the coach, saying that we have to respect the place and she basically invited us to leave. We didn't any problems so we were leaving when she came up again to saying that we weren't respecting the place, and I tol her " I think we have different points of view about what a respect is ". And she just told me in the rudest, racist, and disrespectful way " where are you from? Are you Italian right?" Excuse me? I am not Italian but what's wrong if I were?. Never come back and it's very sad because the place was cozy and the...

Dropped in here before braving the hordes at the 12 Apostles. Nice venue and not too busy with a great selection of comfy seating options. The beer and cider selection was good, we ordered the wheat beer and cider both of which were refreshing and hit the spot after the morning drive. We ordered a couple of pizzas which were passable but could be improved. Whilst they weren't horrible they tasted like they were pre-prepared, potentially frozen, not too dissimilar to supermarket frozen pizza. Service was ok, although staff were a little disinterested, but no real issues. Still overall a pleasant experience and worth dropping in for a beer tasting if passing through the town.

After visiting the Twelve Apostles (just about 10 minutes away), we popped into Sow and Piglets Brewery for a casual bite and were delighted by the warm, homey atmosphere. The pizza and pasta were delicious — especially the pasta with their new sauce, which was bursting with flavour and really suited the cozy, welcoming feel of the place. The brewery’s charm extends beyond the food — the cute artwork around the space added a playful touch that made the visit even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a relaxed spot with great food and character, Sow and Piglets is definitely worth a visit.
