Harbour Lights Snack Bar — Restaurant in Portland

Absolutely the worst experience for such a simple food I have ever had. My partner grew up in Portland and had such good memories of this place when she was young and was so excited when we came back and noticed it was still open. We got there at 7 o'clock to order fish and chips and a few sides (basic stuff) it was busy and it was a half an hour wait so we said we can be back in 45 minutes so there is no rush or pressure on the kitchen to ensure fresh quality food and that was all fine from both ends. We Agreed with a time to pick up. Once we got back 45 minutes later to pick up our food my partner asked is it all in there and we got assured it was, twice in fact. Once we got back to our hotel room ( 3 stress away in the rain) it was not all there. The fish and chips where but not the sides we ordered where not. No lemon. No tartare and no Gravy. So I rang up and was willing to run the 3 streets back in the rain to collect or missing items as who wants dry chips and fish and an honest mistake is an honest mistake ? A simple peice of lemon and tartare completes the fish and chips??? Am I wrong??? So I rang up 10 minutes before they shut and once I spoke to some young worker who had no idea and told us it was definitely all there in the shop and I said it wasn't she offered no solution other than we can't do anything atm as we are now shut which tells me that didn't only forget to give it to us they never even read the order correctly and made the gravy as it wasn't even there to collect ? I then asked to speak to a manger which I was told they arnt in untill Tuesday which I didn't accept as I still wanted at least the lemon and tartare? Which is fair enough because I said surely U can make me a fresh gravy quickly which I was told no we can't we don't have any and we now shut.

Absolutely the worst place to get anything from as they don't even offer a refund or are willing to correct there mistakes even if U are willing to go out of your way to correct there mistakes....... I am absolutely devastated. Definitely find a different place to get fish and chips at..

Credit where...

A friend and I went there recently. Ordered 2 dim sim+ pototo cake packs @$3 each + chips. First..the place was NOT crowded when we ordered but the order STILL took 30 mins to make! Second the order was WRONG when we opened it back at the caravan park! Third..the pototo cakes were rubbish-clearly NOT freshly made but taken from display AND mostly batter(ie rubbish value). Fourth- we should have recieved 4 dim sims as per order BUT there were only 2. Fifth..the chips were very ordinary at best and almost cooling as we got them! WHAT A BLOODY RIP OFF. I wont be going back to this place but looking for another FnCh shop. Slow slow slow..and poor quality and almost cold and not even the correct order! Look for somewhere else in the main street this one is not worth it! Heaven help them today with the cruise ship in! I bet they even bump up their prices today. Oh...FLAKE =$7 a...

Took an hour to receive our meals and boy was it NOT worth the wait. My friend ordered a whiting fish and some chips, after the long wait she finally received her meal only to find that her chips were mediocre at best, and the fish was more batter than fish. Soggy and inedible. Not worth it. I ordered a calamari pack for one and a couple of fried dimsims. After the long wait, I received my food and was eager to dig in. The chips? No salt, no flavour, cold and soggy. Calamari? A pitiful attempt. I received 6 thin pieces that I could hardly even chew through. The taste wasn’t horrendous but toughest calamari I’ve had to date. The dimsims? Bit disappointing when the best part of my meal were the two fried dimsims….this is a seaside town…come on!! Disappointing to have such a unsatisfying meal after such a long wait....
