As a new resident of the mountain, was really looking forward to trying this restaurant after reading the reviews. I urge you, do not waste your time!
I ordered takeaways and when I arrived to pick it up, it felt nice and warm. Great start. Everything was downhill from there though. Looking around, the ambience was non-existent, plastic seats, no table clothes, mangy curtains, no music and the list goes on. The young attendant (approx. 15yrs) could not answer even the most basic questions.
Arriving home, I unpacked my food to find the Naan was not only smeared wtih a very thick layer of garlic (don't get me wrong, I love garlic) but it was cold and tough. The mutton in the Lamb Madras was in giant lumps and totally dried out.
I called the restaurant to discuss the state of the Naan only to be told "this is how we traditionally make it" and that "no one has ever complained before". No an I'm really sorry that you.... or a "that's unfortunate" but essentially "take it or leave it - anything else? No? Go away".
Such a shame. If someone takes the time to offer feedback in a friendly way (as I did) this is so important for a business and should be treated as such. Most people will just vote with their feet and then tell their friends, a far worse scenario for a business.
Not friendly. Not accommodating. Very expensive. Not well cooked.
Definitely not authentic, even though they market themselves like that.
Do not waste your time. There are plenty of other lovely restaurants on the mountain - make...
Read moreExcellent location for accessibility and a nice interior with warm colours yet easy on the eye, a big positive for an Indian restaurant. Nice menu, pleasing to see local wines featured in the wine list. The waiting staff were intially pretty good but the service dwindled through the course of the night, probably just tiredness creeping in after a long day as we were probably one of their last customers. It was unusual to be served masala chai between a chicken tikka entree and a lamb banjara main and not exactly the Indian experience we were after, same with being asked, "Are you finished?" from across the room. The entree was well made, slightly low on salt but good overall. The mains sadly lacked salt almost entirely and hence flavour, even though the meat and potatoes were tender and the paneer was fresh as was the roti and naan. The masala chai was as good as it was luke warm, it being served with mains even after requesting for it to be served after didn't help it's case. The background music was an ecletic mix of bollywood classics and forgettables, a good effort. Much like it's name, the parts made sense but on this occasion, the sum of it all did not. A little more attention with a lot more salt and this...
Read moreI'm so happy to have found this gem of a place tonight. We're from Bradford, the Curry Capital of England and we've been longing for a good curry since emigrating 9 years ago. Tonight we made a phone order to pick up, the young lady who answered the phone was very pleasant and the food was ready to collect in 30 mins! The food was ready and waiting for us and were greeted by two lovely smiley young ladies. Our curries were amazing, we tried each others and they were all equally morish. The onion bharjis and riata sauce were to die for. We couldn't fault anything at all. 10/10 for their service and 10/10 for the food. Thank you guys, please pass on our compliments to the chef and carry on exactly as you are. We don't get take outs often, but when we do, we will certainly be...
