I am always conflicted when I have to leave a somewhat negative review for a restaurant in a regional city. It means in most cases that I will not be back to that place, at least not for a while and, today's review is precisely that. It also means one less place to go and have lunch. We had a quick lunch at the Toowoomba Coffee Club today (3 January 2021) and as always, sat down at our regular table, that we have had for the last four or five visits here. We ordered the Smashed Avo Salmon Ciabatta ($19) and the Flat Grill Camembert Chicken+Bacon ($14.90) and a small order of chips ($2) on the side. Our drinks order was the same as always. When our order arrived though, there was no ciabatta, and instead, it was substituted for regular toast. We called our friendly waitress over and enquired about the discrepancy. She indicated that indeed the kitchen ran out of ciabatta and, that they should have asked us before bringing the order out and that "there is nothing she can do about it now" - and then left the table promptly. Manager on duty Sarah was no help either and instead of recognising the issue, thanked me for alerting her to the fact and promised more "staff training". No discount for the change in the menu offered. The issue is not the toast or the ciabatta (the cost is negligible), but how the staff dismissed the case without recognising that the customer should have been consulted. And yes, even a 50 cent discount would have gone a long way to ensure we come back. Somehow, the incident and interaction with the staff today tainted Toowoomba Coffee Club's experience for us and, we did not finish eating our dishes. We will not be back. On a positive note, the Pepsi was the same...
Read moreWhere to start.. booked a table in advance to be outside as we have pram with newborn and a toddler. On arrival young guy had put our table inside and said a new girl booked me so couldnt be outside (I wish they called me with the number I left the girl days before) We had to move a table and disturb guests to get pram in plus newborn crying disturbed inside diners.
The lady that took the orders was about the most positive experience other than food quality which was good for majority.
One meal was missed and was a total 45min wait to receive. Same young guy continued to come back and forth trying to explain why order got missed rather than just fixing it up and apologising. No compensation was made for the massive error of forgetting a whole meal and unfortunately this staff members attitude was very poor towards the table, we could all tell.
I definitely think staff need to be trained better on how to not argue and defend an error with attitude rather to approach correctly. Its very sad when a heavily pregnant diner at my table is nearly brought to tears by the end of our morning due to the stress caused by it all waiting 45 mins for her meal and having a staff member with a bad attitude towards us.
Its a 2 star rating today but I hope next time it can be turned around. Its true in hospitality that who is on your team as staff can either make or break customers...
Read moreAwful experience. We were told that food's going to take 30 mins so we're like yeah that's fine. After 45 mins my partner's food arrives, and the server asks if I ordered anything and I said yes. She went back and brought the wrong food so I told her that I did not order the eggs Benedict. Now we wait for another 10 mins for them to make my food which is the haloumi bowl. We're so hungry and my partner's food is now cold. My food finally arrives, and its missing fresh avo and the tomato relish. I had to call the server and ask for it. Food wasn't that great as it looked like it was made in a rush. Haloumi pieces were so hard. The veggie patty was really oily. The server was apologetic and she offered free drinks but we're not really feeling it because we already finished our drinks and we're already full. There's also no table water which should be a standard. I also did not finish my food coz it was really bad, I did enjoy the fried eggs though. This was Saturday morning but the place wasn't full at all. They gave us 20% discount which is $5 for the inconvenience and for making us...
