Townsville Yacht Club & Marina — Restaurant in Queensland

I recently had dinner on Saturday night with nine others, and some comments may differ with other meals served. We choose this location because of great views and cool sea breeze, and paid premium prices to expect the best, I’m sure you would agree. Service was reasonable…however I ordered oysters Kilpatrick that were tasteless with no Worcestershire sauce, and not cooked in natural juices. Main course was premium steak ordered medium rare, the steak was served after resting too long and over cooked to medium well, and not very hot. The salad was underwhelming with lettuce and, “half a cherry tomato” really half of a cherry tomato. The local pub bistro does it better considering your premium prices, these high charges should help you budget for a premium chef,..not a cook. I can only comment for my self, my wife and son. Eaten here twice, in groups both times. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Everything came out hot and in close time to other meals. View is nice. Service was quick and drinks were reasonably priced. My only qualm was on first arrival the waitress was cold mannered, stating that she wasn't sure if she could accommodate 5 people. She looked around for a minute, amongst the empty tables, before showing us to a table. She stated they preferred to seat guests who'd booked as they were booked out that night. We apologised and explained the restaurant we had intended to eat at was unexpectedly closed. The restaurant remained reasonably empty for the remainder of our stay... Not sure what the initial...

If you like the smell of diesel and bilge flotsam with your meal then go for it. Ambience aside, staff were poor trained, initially ignoring us when we had a query. My daughter asked for a Entree in a Main size which was confirmed as doable by the waitress, and double checked. Got a entree size meal instead and a impatient "We don't make main size entrees" from the young male waiter who he just walked away without hearing us out. Luckily the older manager lady came to apologise for the "misunderstanding" i.e wasn't their fault and we had to pay for 2 entrees. Meals weren't that great, just overpriced counter meals. My medium-rare scotch fillet had the texture of an old boot. Pretty poor...
