We dined here on Sunday 29/12/24 for lunch. We bought the Fisherman's basket, bowl of prawns, a dozen Kilpatricks, greek salad & 2 drinks for $118. Greek salad - no complaints. Fisherman's basket - Chips and calamari rings were fine. We got an extra prawn cutlet after noticing there was no prawn in our meal. There was (my fault) but they gave me an extra one which was hot and tasty. Partner ate the other prawn and sea scallops and said these didnt taste right. Bowl of prawns - the prawn did not taste fresh at all but a lot of prawn cocktail sauce helped to mask it. Kilpatricks dozen - not fresh and undercooked. We basically ate raw (not fresh) oyster/oyster juices mixed with uncooked Kilpatrick sauce and bacon. We tried to finish it because of how much it cost but just couldn't.

We ate at this place months before when I was pregnant and had a similar issue with Kilpatricks so I couldn't finish it. Everything else tasted fine that time. We left it at that, thinking it was probably a one off. We went back on Sunday and I got food poisoning and now I've been dealing with food poisoning symptoms since. Headache, tummy cramps and diarrhoea since Sunday, projectile vomiting and slight fever since yesterday (Tuesday). Maybe it was just another off day again but I just can't risk eating there again.

Staff were friendly and helpful and responded well to our complaints about prawn (even though we were in the wrong). We really didn't want to complain again but I got food poisoning and I don't want another person...

I went to Simply Tops Seafood Restaurant at the recommendation of a good friend. I took my Wife and enjoyed our meal down at the Strand in Townsville. The food was excellent. Second visit to have another picnic on the Strand and the Food was brilliant once again, they even put lemon in without asking. Whilst enjoying our lunch I noticed a prawn cutlet was missing from the order. I didn’t call that day 11/06/2024 as we were going to return the next day to treat my Mum. Whilst at Simply Tops on 12/06/2024 I mentioned to the Lady serving at the front counter about the missing prawn cutlet from the day before and she pretended she didn’t understand. I made my order and asked for Tartare Sauce to complement my $70+ meal. I asked her again and asked if I could be reimbursed for the prawn cutlet, she said I should have called the day before so there is nothing she can do. To make matters worse She even forgot to include my $2 tartare sauce today. I called simply tops when I noticed this discrepancy and the chef answered and was quite pleasant. I loved the food there and the only reason I am giving Three Stars and not one is because the Chef was decent to me on the phone and offered a replacement to what was missing to which I declined as I won’t...

My experience here is terrible they are sooo rude i'm sitting here right now trying to have Good Friday with my family which we are paying over $300 for our meals they tell us that we can bill the drinks to the table okay so we all got a drink each and we sitting there and then they come out and yell at us and say there is no tab on this table you need to get up and pay it now and yelled at us we aren't cheap we won't be treated like we are ..! as well as when we ordered they were nothing but rude I've never had such terrible customer service we all are embarrassed because they yelled at us in front of everyone in the little restaurant and not only that the place is crawling in flies and it's really hot there fans don't work properly it is like a sauna and we will never ever ever ever be going back to this s#*$ hole and it looks nothing like it does in its picture all the chairs are cheap white plastic the tables are literally the same tables you buy at Kmart for camping and then never cleared and dirty...

The best meal of the month! I was on a work trip and wanted something light, and this place caught my eye. It might look like a typical takeaway spot at first glance, but don’t be fooled—this is some of the best seafood you can find in Townsville. Yes, $23 for 6 prawns seemed a bit steep, but after tasting them with that incredible garlic butter, it was worth every cent. Has to be some secret here…The flavors were on another level. The Moreton Bay bugs were cooked to perfection, making the meal even more memorable. If had to be critical… serve the salad on a plate not in a plastic container but im serious picking.. This hidden gem was the perfect spot for a casual outdoor meal, especially when paired with a glass of white wine while watching the sunset. Whether you're a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and check it out. Highly recommended!

Had the butter and lemon barra, small chips, and greek salad for Aud26. The barra was pretty nice, if a bit on the small side. Ditto the chips, golden and crunchy but for the price again a bit on the small side and charging extra for tomato sauce is just stingy. The Greek salad was a joke though, some tomatoes on a bed of onions with a bit of cucumber and 2 olives. Staff is friendly, but charged me for a bundaberg ginger beer then tried to give me some other brand (i had specifically asked and was assured that yes they had it). Location is decent with a big deck overlooking the Marina. Overall if this is the "best fish and chip shop in Townsville", I shudder to try the rest..

If you love fish and chips like I do, you'll like the food here. I was a little disappointed with the fish; a little overdone for my taste. The chips were hot and crispy moist; ideal. Not a big selection of condiments. Tartar wasn't available or it wasn't pointed out to me. The service was friendly enough but needed a little cheerfulness too. It's in a handy location, near all the other eating houses. The outdoor dining is perfect for Townsville's climate.
