my family and I ate dinner there and experienced a really bad (and RACIST) comment from the owner. my sister is just feeding my baby niece with food from outside we didn’t know that we couldn’t bring because we didn’t see the sign. the owner came up to us and say “you shouldn’t bring food from outside, ITS A VERY COMMON THING IN AUSTRALIA”. first of all just because we didn’t speak english to each other it doesn’t mean that we’re not local. it’s a truely offensive thing and unnecessary thing to say. just because we’re not white and speak other language other than english it doesn’t mean that we don’t live here. We were truly sorry for bringing the food from outside, but last comment is REALLY UNNECESSARY AND RACIST. and it’s so sad that you’re checking the other customers and very nice to them but not us. we just wanted to have a good dinner and it’s my mom and dad’s first time in cairns (FROM MELBOURNE WHICH IS IN AUSTRALIA) and got to experience something racist leaving them with bad memory of cairns. if the owner just said to us nicely we would totally understand. for you to own an asian restaurant and being racist to us asian is really ashamed. I ate at your restaurant several times I even said your ramen was good. but after what we experienced, we won’t be coming back. your server is a very nice lady, but you as a owner to say something like that to us. it’s really...
Read moreI am severely disappointed with the restaurant’s response to my partner’s review. They were quick to correct the waiting time, but failed to address our concerns about the food quality which was the main point of discontent.
Furthermore, even though there were only three parties including ours waiting to be seated, we had to wait for a considerable amount of time for such a simple task to be handled. Additionally, we were seated outside without being provided any utensils, which further marred our dining experience.
The argument that finishing our food equated to satisfaction was unreasonable. After spending an entire afternoon snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, we were famished and it was already 7:40 PM when we got to eat, so finishing two bowls of rice and a portion of chicken wings shouldn’t be seen as an endorsement of the food quality.
The response from the restaurant was rude and evasive, focusing on trivialities instead of addressing the core issues raised in the review. Given such an unprofessional response and the subpar dining experience, I believe that a rating of 1 star for both the food and service is warranted. I hope potential customers are aware of the restaurant’s dismissive attitude towards genuine feedback and consider this before deciding...
Read moreThis wasn’t our first visit to Yama Zara, but it was again, a fantastic dining experience. Whilst the menu may be slightly limited, the range they carry means there is always something to enjoy. And enjoy we did! The service is prompt and attentive, the food well made, well presented and quite reasonably priced. We always start with a bowl or two of edamame, home made pork gyozas, and seaweed salad. The atmosphere is conducive to chatting whilst enjoying our snacks. And then the mains come! Fresh sashimi (chefs choice is always good), bowls of ramen in miso, and some chicken. All hot, delicious and satisfying. Three of us ate exceptionally well for around $200. We left satisfied, well fed and full of deliciousness, and happy to return for our next visit whenever we get to town. We live about an hour away, and make a special trip just to eat here. We...
