Here we go. I was torn for options when at Scarborough beach one evening, to head to classic steady Cold Rock or try out the newer gelato place. I started here at Dumbo and had a few taste tests, I’m not a huge sweets fan so I like my ice cream/gelato to be a certain stage of flavour with the sweetness to warrant the sugar intake. There is flavour for real at Dumbo, though I would say not the flavours you’ve past tasted or images for the titles of the gelato. I then wasn’t impressed enough to order so I walked to Cold Rock but they weren’t doing taste tests because of Covid so I wandered back to Dumbo and kept tasting. I decided on Mint Choc. And the harmony of the string mint won me over. I had it on a cone which is how I like my creamy iced desserts, and it’s was perfectly crunchy and a good contrast to the gentle smooth mint. I would say this place is incredible and they have many options, of gelato and sorbet. My friends all had separate flavours and were all quite impressed. The lovely lady serving us was accomodating and generous. I shall return....
Read moreUPDATE: so disappointing. Went back after review below, and have had to downgrade This review from 4 to 2 stars. Line stretching out the door on a hot summer weekend during fringe, and only one person serving. Serve was stingy again, and there was not a single swirl of flavour in the Aussie salted caramel I bought. Totally bland and poor value as a result. Really feels like this store is just cost cutting left right and centre. ORIGINAL REVIEW: VERY glad to see a quality gelato store on the beachfront. Gelato texture the best I’ve tried in Perth, and the flavour list is interesting and chic. Big feedback, though: at the moment all flavours are tasting the same. Flavour component really needs a big boost so they’re clearly defined. Serves were not generous and prices are quite high, but people will swallow all this is the flavour issue is addressed. Glad to have you, Dumbo - we’ll give you another go in the...
Read moreHaving tried this place after reading the reviews, I am convinced either everyone on here is a friend/family member or just has no clue about quality gelato?! We went in with a group of 12, and not one of us finished the gelato! Firstly, this place has completely missed the mark! The potential is huge here ( yes they will make money as it’s the only place for gelato on the beachfront). Secondly the scoops are too small for the price! And thirdly you would think the workers would actually move fast and scoop but nope they just take their time while people grow increasingly impatient watching how slow they serve (and yes people walked away due to this!). Honestly if there was another gelato shop to open close by, it would be lights for this joint. Sorry will...
