Placed a large order on Christmas Eve. Understandably, this is a busy time so we prepared our order early and phoned it in around 5pm. Told the person who answered the phone that the order was long (10ppl) so they could prepare themselves. Order was read back to me and I considered it correct. Was told there would be at least a 1.5hr wait which we were prepared for. Went to collect our order but it was still not ready. Order was finally handed over after at least another 30 minutes but when we inspected it back at our hotel we discovered several parts were missing. Walked back to the shop to rectify. Options given were initially to refund but since I'd already waited almost 2hrs I don't see why I should have to wait longer, also for the time of night there were not many other options available. I was then told they could re-cook the missing items but I would have to wait. I told them that was fine but while they take another 30 minutes to cook the missing items the rest of my dinner was going cold. Then I was offered "spares" which were most likely the items I was missing from my order anyway (as they were just conveniently sitting on a bench) but told I'd have to pay for the "extras" because they weren't in the order - despite them being on the order slip and their own offer to refund me in the first place. I accepted the spares as we were hungry and just wanted our meals, I also paid for these items despite having paid for them in the original order.
Chose the grilled salmon which was not salmon at all, it was over cooked, charred in parts, partially cold (because it had just been left on the bench when no corresponding order could be matched to it). Salads that were with the grilled fish pack were frozen.
By the time we sorted the issue and returned to our dinner with the rest of our family everything was cold and soggy.
Can't recommend this place. As others have said very little apology was offered, shouldn't be customers responsibly to check each and every order (especially for a party of 10, well over $100 worth of fish and chips). Only excuse offered was that they were busy - but a fish and chip shop, in a very high tourist area on Christmas eve should be parepared for a rush.
A better solution would have been to offer to fill the remainder of my order, not charge me again for it and do it with fresh product over something that's on its way...
Read moreI must express my recent dining experience, which, to say the least, was quite remarkable hahaha. While I typically find humor in exaggerated reviews that lament waiting times of over an hour, I regrettably found myself nearing that very threshold during my visit. It was evident that fellow patrons also shared my frustration, as I overheard one guest vocalizing her discontent after a 40 minute wait. On this public holiday, I recognize that staffing and operational challenges can be exacerbated, but considering a public holiday surcharge, one would expect a commensurate level of service.
My partner and I placed an order for a calamari pack, upon arrival, contained only five calamari rings, contrary to the advertised six. Additionally, our seafood dinner, which was supposed to include prawn cutlets, arrived without any. While there is a sign at the counter urging customers to inspect their orders, it should not be incumbent upon patrons to scrutinize their meals due to potential lapses in the kitchen.
On a more positive note, I would like to acknowledge the swift response of one staff member who promptly exchanged my cold gravy for a hot one, a small but appreciated gesture given the extended waiting period.
I believe that much of this experience could have been mitigated through transparent communication. A simple inquiry from the staff regarding our willingness to wait 30-45 minutes before taking our order would have greatly managed our expectations. In cases where customers might choose to depart, it would alleviate the pressure on the staff, reducing stress levels, and potentially enhancing their effectiveness and safety in...
Read moreBeing a local and enjoyed many lunches by ourselves and with friends, food always good with amazingly great battered fish, well cooked chips and nice coleslaw. Today I introduced more friends to Beachview and looking forward to sitting on the waterfront under umbrellas opposite Beachview to enjoy. I ordered fish and chips (requested chips crispy) with coleslaw(my hubby and I share). My friends ordered, we sat down with our beepers. Trade was brisk and we watched another 6 groups, including couple's order. My friends beeper went off first(there order was fish and chips x 2 plus battered sausages) and I said you go across to the men and start eating whilst it's hot as mine shouldn't be long. Imagine my dismay when 4 orders after mine were called and all were large orders. I said to the male staff member why is mine taking so long and why are you serving people who ordered after me. The response was "sorry but you asked for crispy chips". Really, my intelligence was insulted. Clearly, they had either forgotten to cook it or got it out of order. I waited a good half hour or so. I was not impressed and staff knew it. By the time I got to my hubby and friends, they had finished their meal. ...
