Been there in May twice as friends talked it up. 1st visit; the only white wine (Riesling Hugel $114) with a listed vintage turned out to be the wrong vintage - note: don’t trust a super dirty beverage list. 3 dishes weren’t available which we found out AFTER the kids ordered. Friendly but a bit overwhelmed and inattentive service. The two guys behind the bar were more concerned about their mobile phones than sending us a waiter. Not once got our wine glass refilled. Food was tasty, frozen peas must have been in “season” and on every dish. And WHY cheap cheese out of a package on pasta and risotto??? 2nd visit; lovely waitress, same food issues (peas n’cheese) still same dirty beverage list with loveless scratched out items that weren’t available, yet, wife and I had a kids free lunch and enjoyed the sun ($200+) … stupid us wanted to really enjoy ourselves and ordered dessert at 15:10 just to be told the kitchen had left at 14:30… no warning, no heads up, nothing… guess it was our fault … Yes, the manager/owner “offered” to make us something but come on… Twice in a months rather disappointing…

On the Saturday of the Australia Day long weekend I booked a table at Alfie’s Mooo Char & Bar. There was no problem getting a reservation and when I called a day before the booking to confirm everything was fine. We arrived and were greeted by friendly and attentive wait staff. While the restaurant was fairly busy at 1230, there was a good and happy vibe to the place. We placed our orders with one daughter asking for an Alfie burger, another daughter asking for fish and chips, while my remaining daughter and I had decided on the hot and cold seafood platter for two. I really enjoyed the whole dining experience. The platter was tremendous with oysters natural, oysters Kilpatrick, fresh prawns, deep fried battered prawns, crumbed fish, Moreton Bay bug, spanner crab, crumbed calamari, hot chips and a lovely Queensland nut and toasted coconut salad. I’d happily eat another of those platters, although next time, we might go for a cold platter and ask for a side of oysters Kilpatrick. I highly recommend Alfie’s Mooo Char & Bar.

Kids are great don't get me wrong and someday I think I'd (obviously) be an amazing dad, BUT at cafes kids are not my favourite thing. I asked for scrambled eggs not screambled eggs. No amount of crayons and colouring sheets can save any of us. Naturally then, for a booking that included no less than FIVE kids under the age of three, I was prepared for an absolute shambles of a breakfast. Did I script apologies to staff? No. But I was ready to quietly sit back and hope their parents did. Cyclonic winds and pelting rain didn't make breakfast the slightest bit less enjoyable (except for Theo, poor man). Not even five little terrors, who are adorable and whom we all love and cherish, could damper what a nice time I had here. The staff were understanding and helpful and deserve raises and bonuses. I got avo on toast with a poached egg. Yes, I am a millenial. Frankly it was delicious so say what you like about my generation. Coffee was also good. Keen to come back (without tiny tots) and try the bar.

Having worked in the hospitality industry for over a decade and as a chef for the last 5 years I’ve never been one to make complaints and nitpick when I go out for a meal but there were quite a few small things that happened when I went to dinner tonight for me and my partners anniversary that stacked up and honestly left me quite annoyed with my dining experience and hopefully my review can be taken as constructive criticism and be improved upon. Upon entering the venue atmosphere was nice and staff were friendly, we were seated at our table next to the window though my seat was right up against an old ac unit wrapped in tape and cardboard. We had ordered starters which were the calamari fritti and a dozen natural oysters and I made a request for some hot sauce to be brought out with the oysters, We enjoyed our drinks and our round of starters were brought out but the server misheard me and thought she heard me say we wanted 4 oysters which was fine we amended that and instead of the full dozen we said we were fine with an extra 2 making it half a dozen oysters, we got our 2 extra oysters while we were eating our calamari but I stopped a server and asked if we could get the hot sauce I asked for which is absolutely fine aswell, everybody forgets here and there. After our starters we ordered our mains which was the seafood platter for 2 and then got another round of drinks and asked for a water refill, we got our drinks but they had forgotten about our water which again was fine. For what we paid the seafood platter was quite underwhelming, the prawns had an ever so slightly off taste about them, the bugs were tough and they both seemed like low quality freezer products, though they had nice flavour the scallops and mussels were very over cooked and quite shriveled, the salad they added was quite basic and honestly would’ve rather they just left it off the plate but everything else was quite nice my partner quite liked the barramundi and the sauce they served with the mussels by the end of the platter we were quite full so it was a good serving for the both of us. To end the night we ordered an affogato to share and we could both quite easily notice that the ice cream in the affogato was freezer burned. After we had acquired the bill I had notice that they had charged me for both the mistake amount of oysters and the amended amount which I had fixed using paying. I was quite easy about the mistakes and had wanted to give feedback on some of the food items so as they could pay extra detail next time they prepared those dishes but there was no check back on the food during or after at all and in return it left me quite annoyed and disappointed at our whole dining experience. After we had left we had noticed that my partner has a chocolate stain on the butt of her dress which could’ve only have been from the seat at the restaurant since we were quite attentive and looking forward to our...

Honestly reading the reviews I was really excited to come have lunch at this place. But in all honesty for $379 lunch the food was Average the starters were cold no joke cold and tasteless. Tabel serves had to wave my hand around to get attention from someone. The chef didn't have the heat light on for the food that was sitting waiting to go out for a long time. Maybe why food was cold. Also waiting and hour and half for mains was joke. The whitening I was trying to find the macadamia crumbing again tasteless and cold for $31 salad was all rocket with a slice of onion and maybe one slice of cucumber covered in dressing like covered! The chips were nice though. Punkin risotto was just horrible can't even comment on that my mother had a spoon full and left the rest. Pork belly starter was dry the salmon was extremely salty to the point you had to have 3 glasses of water with it. And all the soft drinks were flat and warm! I don't know how a soft drink can come out warm only getting cold as the ice melted within the drink. Very disappointing 😕 I can comment on one of the male servers didn't get his name but had tribal tattoos he was lovely I think he could tell we were not enjoying our meals and waiting to long he did do a great job makeing sure we were okay and topping up waters. For the other girls on the floor looking around into space with one's skirt so high up I could nearly see her breakfast wasn't pleasant I dont think we will be back again. We're local but obviously this food wasn't even up to the local pubs standard....

First time in 33 years, my husband and I took time out for a holiday to Caloundra, just for the two of us. He booked us for dinner at Acqua restaurant and bar. Great place, near the beach. As soon as we sat down, a waiter came to take drink orders and then not long after he came to take our food order. We ordered a starter and main, and decided to order desert and coffee after the main meal. Didn’t take long for drinks and the starter to come and the starter was great. Then we waited, and waited and waited for our main meal. Waiters going around us, serving others and we still waiting. People who came at the same time as us all done and gone, and we still waiting. Very few people left in the restaurant and we still waiting. No one came to our table to tell us what was happening. We were wondering if they forgot about us. Then I thought it can’t be, as we were sitting not far from the service counter. At last 1 hour 20 minutes after we sat down, our meal arrived. No explanation at all, until my husband asked if it is normal for meals to take this long to arrive. Then the waiter said “sorry there was some glitch in the kitchen” and left. We didn’t stay for coffee and desert. Who knows, we would have waited another 80 minutes for them, No fault with the food. It was good and delicious. As for service, it needs to improve and maybe stall are better trained. My husband told the cashier about the delay and she said she will let the manager know. So this was the great start of...
