The upside is that itās open and trading (unlike so many other places in Caloundra). The food ranges from mediocre to ok. Itās hot and stuffy inside and even though theees live music, they still have large tvs - really? If we want a sports bar or rsl⦠so distracting. š Pretty highly priced for a lot of the dishes. The fruit on top of the Brie is so over the top - you just get a mouthful of Christmas⦠on one occasion I ordered fish and, despite being right at the ocean, it was a gross, crumbed piece that came From a box of frozen Hoki fillets. Really strong gamey flavour. Horrible. The cocktails are too wannabe. Too much deviation and not enough stock standard menu items and cocktails. Service is good though. The security guy is always friendly as are most of the staff (some literally just ignore you as if theyāre doing you a favour). The live music always sounds bad because the acoustics suck but props to the manager for supporting local live musos. The menus that are available to take as you arrive and go sit down are sticky and grimey. They need a clean and the font on the awkward menu requires even those with 20/20 vision to use someoneās specs. Nice for breakfast. Fair for lunch. Loud, crowded and stuffy for dinner. And whatās with the toilets? If you want privacy, cross the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām not surprised this place has closed down. Long time coming I reckon. I donāt know where to start.. I moved up here 3 years ago & the drift bar was awesome! What a great place to hangout, great music, lovely staff & nice food. Then something happened.. all of a sudden it was staffed by rude, sullen, jumped up teenagers with dreadful know it all attitudes. The food deteriorated to something not worthy of selling on the street let alone in a bar at extortionate prices. Last time I was there we had just bought a round in (it was 9pm) when the staff decided theyād had enough & wanted to go so they sent their brain dead bouncer over to āmove us alongā I apparently didnāt neck my beer quick enough & was subjected to a torrent of verbal abuse by said redneck. My partner came over to undoubtably move me along to avoid drama (heās a gentle soul) only to have his head pushed hard from behind. Horrified, we all left in a hurry and were chased out into the street like scum. We swore never to go back again. What a vile bunch of people. Delighted itās closed down & sincerely hope that dangerous bouncer is unemployed. Looking forward to some professionals taking over & re opening what could potentially be a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy search for the best traditional Eggs Benedict continues.. Why anyone would want Kale on Eggs Benedict is totally beyond me but its on the menu here. They are willing to edit and meal came through without the greenery. What has arrived is just lovely. A crisp sourdough slice with good portion of packet smoked salmon and enough hollandaise for every bite. Eggs were a bit small and slightly over cooked but still enough of the gooey gold to make this a worthwhile stop. I would gladly return for the same at $25.
Good atmosphere along the waterfront. Dog friendly. Plenty of seating options for the walk in or with a group. Friendly service happy to help. Tables were quickly cleared and cleaned. A good sign. The savoury mince and two poached with toast, served deconstructed. Egg and mince in a bowl. Dry toast to the side. Make your own. A little butter on the toast would go a long way. Mince was tasty but the poached egg just a little over cooked. For $22 this is a decent breakfast. Two flat whites for $11 but a common mistake. Flat white is just milk and coffee. No foam. It originated in Darwin where you couldn't get foamed milk anywhere. Please bring back an Australian tradition,...
