The Coffee Club - Rumba Caloundra — Restaurant in Sunshine Coast Regional

I chose to have breakfast and coffee with 3 friends this morning but ended up leaving instead. I ordered 2 toasted sandwiches off a menu at the counter and was told the price on the menu was wrong and I had to pay $2 more. They were not anything special, just standard ham, cheese and tomato. I advised that I wanted the items for the price stated. After going backwards and forwards to speak to the “manager” I was told I must pay the higher price. I was then sent to the “manager” to place my order who although had full knowledge of what I wanted, spoke to me in a condescending manner and charged the higher price. When I questioned it, she told me the menu was 5 years old and no longer applied and it was their policy not to change the price to what was stated. I suggested maybe it should be taken down if it was from 5 years ago. She then stated it was 2 years old then further reduced it to 2 months. I didn’t raise my voice nor speak rudely to her, but she was certainly very smug in her response to me. I asked if I could speak to the owner and was told they were not there and I should just write a review on Google. So here I am. Worst experience ever in an Australian restaurant so far. The nice lady that took our order was absolutely lovely, but after that it all went terribly wrong. We ordered (medium fried) eggs on toast, a burger and pancakes plus some drinks. The restaurant did not have many customers but it took forever to get the food to the table. It was delivered by a sloppy woman that couldn't be more uninterested in what she was doing. The eggs were way overcooked and very dry. The pancakes were clearly not fresh and went in the microwave for way too long as the edges were rock hard. The burger was sort of ok but not tremendously good. We complained about the eggs and a bit later about the pancakes. The 'manager' was called and she was not amused but we were offered a new set of eggs. The same woman came delivering them 10 minutes later but without new toast so we complained again. The woman looked angry and shrug her shoulders with an attitude that was killing the mood. We complained again and demanded we get refunded for the bad food. We eventually got a refund but not after we were told that we should have been grateful that she made the order twice. Come on, this is not customer service people!...

This is a gorgeous big outlet right opposite the beach so the potential is great. There were only a few diners scattered about in the store. On the reception desk stood an unfriendly and disinterested staff member who only acknowledged us because we asked to be seated. The same staff member went about collecting coffee cups and straightening papers but did not offer us menus. I had to track him down to request a menu, then again to take our orders. Two separate staff members came to tell me they could not accommodate my “special order”, which was a half serve of an item in the menu. They did eventually relent. The kids pancakes were served without the usual I scream and when we questioned it we were told they don’t come with ice cream. I asked for a menu and not long after, two scoops of vanilla ice team were thumped onto the table in front of us in a tea cup.
