咱家（Homeway) Burwood — Restaurant in Sydney

The food is actually pretty good, like the name states it pretty much tastes like home cooked Shandong Food. Yes the restaurant can be quite busy at times which is normal as it is small in size.

The staff members are obviously young and training and I can not Fault them, they are very enthusiastic. I was coming here on a regular occasion and on Saturday 21 May 2022, it would be my last.

I have never been so embarrassed. After me and wife enjoyed our meal we were going down stairs to pay. The Lady who I believe is the manager or owner, accused me of not paying the bill last time I attended. I tried to ask her when such an incident took place, and unbelievably infront of other customers of leaving without paying. I advised her that I had not attended for atleast 1 month. She was very blatant and rude about it, and made me the Centre of Attention of the upstairs area.

I really hope she learns not to mix me up with another "white person", she would not want me to think "all Asians look the same". So how dare she accuses me of this disgusting act and...

We recently had lunch at this casual family style restaurant which has menu showing dishes from Shandong / Henan provinces in China. We tried three dishes i.e. the crab-style fried eggs and fish chunks, Shandong chicken with spicy sauce and stir-fried shredded pancake (looks like noodle). We love the dishes, especially the shredded pancake and the crab-style fried eggs. All dishes are prepared well and taste like home-style cooking.

The place ambience is reasonable for casual restaurant in suburb like Burwood and the customer service is reasonable from staff members who can speak English quite well. Prices on the menu are also reasonable and competitive. You can pay with V / MC credit cards with a standard 1.5%...

Overall: 5/7 Dishes are very flavourful and it looks like they have a lot of authentic options. Very spicy though. The way they bring out some dishes is a bit strange though. Very big serving sizes though.

Pan fried chicken with chilli sauce: high 4/7 This thing is super spicy and definitely not for everyone, but it’s very flavourful. The bread that comes with it is kinda weird. Super dense and doesn’t really soak up the sauce… Also ordering extra items we thought would get stir fried into the dish but actually just gets added to the side…

Special fried eggplant: 5/7 It’s quite sweet, I think they coat the eggplant in sugar and deep fry it? It’s super crunchy and the eggplant is soft. Tastes good. Not...
