Bangkok Bites Cronulla — Restaurant in Sydney

The food is not great - pretty average. It’s interesting to see so many good reviews - although with limited options in the shire, I understand what it’s busy.

We tried this place for the first time about a month ago. We always see that it is busy from the outside so we thought it must good . Unfortunately though, we didn’t enjoy the food. We in fact left it half uneaten.

Fast forward to tonight, we thought we would give it another try. We gave this restaurant the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe it was our choice of food the first around that we didn’t like, but we were left disappointed again.

The waiter noticed we didn’t eat much and asked us if we wanted to take the food home. We politely declined and this time told them that we really didn’t enjoy one of the dishes (although truthfully we didn’t enjoy any of them) the waiter then apologised and offered to make a new one and we said there was no need . We were still charged for that specific menu item - which is fine.

We are frequent Thai food eaters in Sydney and travel to Thailand often - whilst we don’t expect super authentic food in Aus , we do know a good place when we try one. It’s a shame our local restaurant left us disappointed, twice.

We come here a lot, not because it is amazing, it's because we dont have so much choice and every time I say never again.. but we give it another chance. Well, tonight, never again. EVER... I made a point to specifically ask if its possible that we could have panang curry with no chilli (as its always stupidly hot and considering i have a pretty decent tolerance to spicy food, thats saying something. It is Monday night, dead quiet. I was met with, "but Panang curry is not spicy at all".. meanwhile she was still eating her food, however i was polite and said, no worries. I was absolutely respectful and peaceful in my request.

Ok, order is ready. Take it home. Not only was it insanely spicy, and i mean stupid, they have actually put whole chilli pieces and the whole thing is full of chilli. Now tell me this wasnt done on purpose?? You can see the chilli pieces and the chilli flakes, and the chilli spice added.

Congratulations, you have made our daughter sick, my wife violently ill all due to stupidity. We have never received a panang curry with chunks of chilli throughout....

We usually order takeaway from Bangkok Bites and have found their Pad Thai to be the best in town. Tonight we decided on trying the delivery option. After I placed the order I was notified it would take 80 minutes to arrive! As we only live about a 5 min walk away, I tried calling them to confirm if the order was going to take so long and if it would be quicker to just pick up. When I called the phone was answered but nobody was speaking however I could hear the restaurant in the background. I tried calling again and the same thing happened. Giving them the benefit of the doubt and without no further updates on our order, we waited patiently for our Pad Thai. Our order arrived after exactly 80mins. It was cold and not so flavorsome. We are disappointed, especially because we paid a decent amount of money for food that was not good. I do not recommend the delivery option and will just stick to Uber Eats...
