Warning 💡⛔️ a deeply disappointing and concerning experience. I ordered a lamb and chicken souvlaki pita with chips from this place that used to have a good reputation with previous owner, and within hours I began experiencing significant stomach pain, nausea, and upper abdominal pressure that lasted well over two days. Despite eating a modest or relatively small portion, it has triggered what felt like a serious reaction — one that affected my digestion, appetite, and sleep.
The symptoms (vomiting, nausea, pain, discomfort & more) strongly suggest possible food contamination or poor food handling practices. It was not just an upset stomach — it left me unable to eat properly for days and genuinely impacted my health and wellbeing and ability to function normally. I still feel terrible from eating this food, unable to exercise or even do simple things like walk around the house without discomfort and a feeling of being unwell. It feels like the food has agitated my stomach or liver.
I strongly believe its possible food contamination, suspect the meat was either not fresh/contaminated/off, poorly handled, or cooked with excess or reused oil( we saw him using too much oil). Possibly the sauces or pita were contaminated or sitting out too long. Hygiene standards need to be taken seriously, especially in food service.
I strongly advise others to think twice before eating here, especially if you have a sensitive stomach. No one should go through this kind of digestive trauma from one small meal coz of very poor handling practices. This wasn’t a simple upset stomach — it has left me physically drained and in pain, well beyond a normal reaction to food. I'm feeling terrible for eating such terrible food.
Food safety standards are clearly not being met, and I urge the owners to review their hygiene and storage protocols immediately. I also encourage other customers to be cautious. This experience was not only disappointing — it was distressing. I will not be returning, and I’m considering reporting the incident to the local food safety authority. That's absolute rubbish. Will never ever...
Read moreIt's tough coming from Adelaide, attempting to find quality Greek Street food in Sydney, so many places, so many run by less passionate and , bottom line worrying Non-Greeks. The gamut runs from mediocre to slop in so many take aways. Adelaide is resplendant with some of the countries finest Restaurants and the Greeks, Like Melbourne, are a mainstay of yummy fare. Imagine my surprise when I encountered this gem of an establishment in Cronulla. Hankering for traditional Yiros, I was fearful of another greasy joint, primed to take my hard earned in return for grissly, fat slop. But no !
I found a genuine contender to any of the quality Yiros (Gyros) Cafe's/takeaways/restaurants from Adelaide or Melbourne.
The service is quick, in a great location, looking down the "Alley" to the rolling surf of North Cronulla beach, The Yiros are succulent, finest quality lamb, packed with the freshest of ingredients, Tomato, Lettuce Tzaziki, Onion.
The aroma is to die for and the juicy ingredients simple drip down your fingers as you take another bite, hardly having chewed the first. It's that good.
The whole time my brain kept thinking, there is some idiot, pulling into an American style Fast food joint, paying top dollar for synthesised ingredients, packed full of sugar and preservatives, when they could be enjoying a belly full of the finest hand crafted foods, that fill you up and leave you wanting to return again and again.
The Tradies that lined up, with the mums with little kids at the tables surrounding the little venue, immediately nailed it for me. Big hungry hard working blokes, need quality sustenance and the mums made it clear that they were happy to allow their children a treat of wholesome home made style food, value plus.
I gain nothing from this review, except to remind myself of how much this place reminds me of the best from Melbourne and Adelaide and that I am so fortunate to live only a few K'ms from it. I always grab Yiros for lunch or to take home for lunch.
You'd be smart...
Read moreI spent the time to actually read through the reviews of one of my favourite places to eat in the Sutherland shire. I am extremely heartbroken that so many people have expressed such hate and anger towards the blonde lady who works here. About an hour ago my friend and I entered the shop and were greeted with such kindness.. being of Greek decent I had a lovely chat in Greek with the blonde lady having a laugh before relaying my order.. I have been to almost every Greek gyros shop in Sydney not to mention all the best in Greece.. not only did she nail my gyros to every single detail, from the lemoni, Rigani ke paprika, I could taste the love with every single bite. Not to mention after sitting down a number of customers walked in, and were greeted with the EXACT courtesy that I was greeted with despite nationality or race. I hadn’t eaten all day, and this definitely was one of the best early dinners I have ever experienced, beautiful customer service, left with a smile on my face and felt like I was sitting in a little magezi in symi.. not to mention I have been Eating at souvlaki bar (Brighton store) since I was a little kid and have never had a bad experience. Thank you for bringing Greek tradition...
