Today, Batch Brewing became dead to me. They've removed their tulip glasses and replaced them with middies. Not only is that a drop in volume from about 330ml to 280ml (if filled to the brim), but it's a totally horrible change in the otherwise pleasurable experience of drinking beer at Batch. I didn't check if the price changed, but I'm guessing they're charging the same amount.
Look, owners, no one is going to buy middies. The end. By doing this, you've probably killed your business. You've removed the one thing that keeps drawing people back. It's not just the beer - it's the pleasure of drinking it. In the same respect, I don't want to drink beer out of a bucket, a jar or a sippy cup.
Sauce Brewery did the same thing. They used to have tulip glasses. I haven't been back since they got rid of them, except one time. And I noticed they had swapped out their really good menu with a lesser one. I was wondering if they did this because their numbers dropped and they may have thought it was because of the unchanging beer menu. No, it wasn't, it was the fact that they got rid of the tulip glasses.
If Batch don't return these glasses and get rid of middies, my guess is that they'll be out of business within a year. They clearly haven't thought such a significant move through and what its impact will be. Geez. Look at all of the photos in the reviews - they're almost all tulip glasses, not schooners or pints. Think for a second why!?...
Read moreWell, if you want service with an attitude for days...then you've come to the right place! Visited the other day with my wife and wanted to order some drinks. Despite only me waiting to order, the worker thought chatting to the other staff member was a better idea. Once I managed to eventually get her attention, I ordered my beer, and then I asked what was popular for the women, as it was my first time there and my wife prefers the more sweeter drinks. As soon as I asked this question, I was met with the weirdest look like as if I asked her to lend me her house keys, followed by a "get a load of this guy" look she just had to give the other worker next to her. After realising I was right there, genuinely waiting for an answer, her response of "we just sell beer here" was followed up by a "that'll be $7" as she presented me the EFTPOS machine, without waiting to see if I was going to order anything else. Thankfully I requested a coke, to which she agreed to selling me, ensuring that both me and my wife had a drink to enjoy 🙄 If she focused more on customer experience and understanding that other brewers actually have a wide range of drinks for everyone as opposed to showing off her many tattoos or rolling her eyes at customers right in front of them, maybe...just maybe this place might have a more welcoming vibe. Too many other places to choose from. Clearly they don't want you choosing them anyway. Don't...
Read moreThis brewery used to be our favorite local spot for tasting beers and bringing home a litre of what we enjoyed. However, during our last few visits, we encountered a bartender who had an unhelpful attitude. He made a big deal about the 1-litre takeaway deal, stating it was too cheap and hesitating to confirm if it was even in the system after filling up our takeaway can. To avoid further frustration, we ended up suggesting that we pay for three schooners just to get out of that situation.
Suggestion: If the business is not comfortable offering customers a good deal, it might be best to remove it from the menu altogether, so that no one feels compelled to ask for it. There’s no need to embarrass customers for nearly 10 minutes just for choosing something from the menu.
It’s unfortunate how poor customer service can overshadow the positive experiences and deter patrons...
