Good Indian food, this has always been my favourite restaurant as a couple however this was the worst experience I/we had with the family. We visited Castle Taj over the weekend (July 2018) with my parents and our kid, went to the restaurant asked for the descent place for sitting, since we have a young child – 2 years old only. Since we have young child we preferred a corner place, but they didn’t so we accepted whatever they offered… the food took descent amount of time for arrival. We offered the food to my lil boy and then we order couple more Butter Naan, and it took over 20 mins to arrive, interim my boy started playing and eating and just usual childish thing, since he was playing and eating there was lil food particles and paper on floor. My partner then took my son out to play since he was bored and we all were having food, interim the other staff came and started cleaning up the table while we are still eating (how rude right and so manners less) anyways kind of ignored that and then this floor manager SUDEV(if I remember correctly was the name of the guy) who came to our table and started cleaning up the mess which my son made(bear in mind I already apologised for that which not necessarily I should, but I still) and he passed a comment “I would never let my kids to do the same” … I really got offended by his comment and I had further discussion on it, as if he wanted my boy to behave like an adult … really.. you got to kidding me!!! Further he mentioned that he passed this comment cause I am an Asian.. in to inverted commas he mentioned that “Oh if you were GORA (White person/English person) I would never pass such comment, further he added I passed that comments because I thought you are from India and hindu too” and I am wondering what it has to do with my ethnicity when it comes to the customer service. All in all, my recommendation is “Only go to this place if your child is born ADULT or knows how to behave and unless you are GORA you will certainly receive such comment from staff or definitely you will be judged for your child’s behaviours”. I am wondering now, unless you let a child grow independently they will never learn unless you let them decide. With child it is NO NO for this restaurant from me. Even we had worst experience ordering a dish call Navratna Korma which has all vegetables basically steam cooked,, however the cauliflower was very hard to eat and the justification we received was because all customers like it that way (I doubt in that case too... )
From me it is a big NO NO - definitely if you have young family and unless your child is well behaved adult.
NOTE: 22/08. Thanks for the update Mr Owner however your staff's behavior on that day was kind of humiliating by comparing my little one as an adult and with the other child. About the food delay.. the restaurant wasn't that busy apparently your staff forgot about the order, if you have CCTV camera please check the footage that while I was still having my food the staff came and started cleaning up the table by mentioning that oh we are making it comfortable to you and according to me this is again a rude act of cleaning table while someone is still eating and indirectly you are pushing some one to finish the food and leave the place,, that is I believe any customer's interpretation. I hope no one else have to face...
Read moreReading through reviews I noticed a comment about "Noisy Kitchen" and couldnt agree more because there is so much LOUD INDIAN MUSIC being blaired out during the morning and afternoon when prep work is done in the kitchen which disturbs the neighborhood. As a visitor to a law firm which moved last week to the floor above this restaurant, it was disturbing to note the volume of music which was stressful. Upon inquiry the new tenants revealed that they were helpless since their requests fell on deaf years. So as a fellow Australian originally from the sub-continent I thought I could speak to their management to make them aware of the nuisance being caused to their fellow neighbours. However when I walked in this afternoon and spoke to their Owner cum Chef named "Sumit Kumar", he was not apologetic at all didnt even bother to go to his kitchen and advise the staff. Instead he was trying to challenge me and eventually said do whatever I could implying that he wouldnt care. Sorry to say but thats not Australian but a typical Indian attitude. So I told him "mate wherever we come from we shouldnt rub our culture so much so that it becomes a nuisance to the majority of people who like to be in peace and quite". I told him that I would be coming to the law firm for training next week and hope they would kindly reduce the volume of their music so that we could concentrate on our studies but most probably he didnt understand because paid scant regard to my grievance. Therefore I had to tell him that we might have to report to authorities about NOISE POLLUTION to get relief. With such an arrogant attitude he brings shame to all people of sub-continent origin. For a moment I was wondering if we are in India. If the boss displays such careless attitude then there is much left to be desired from staff with regard to Customer Service and...
Read moreMy hubby once did take away and we liked the taste so visited again for our dinner take away.
We ordered 2 butter chicken with 4 naans same as last time but this time I presented 10 percent coupon which was given last time take away order. The girl in the front didn't know what to do so asked to the guy (looks like either manager or owner) who was busy to put a incense and do some kind of religious practice. They guy then told us we won't get the rice if we use the coupon. I asked how much is the rice and he said it is about 5 dollars.
Why do they even give and promote 10 percent if you are going to take out same amount off the take away food? I got 10 percent worth of charge but as well as the rice which was part of the food. So technically there was no discount at all.
Also the girl asked me to wait for 40 mins which made my eyes open wide and she corrected 30 mins. Then the guy next to her said 20 mins. There was no customer in the restaurant but 2 take away(Uber kinda)orders in front of me. I received food exactly in 22 mins.
They rather better be kind and honest to current customer than doing his religious act since the business can have more customer by being nice to current customer so then they can spread good words. Maybe he disagree and is happy to save 50c worth of rice in his pot.
I still give 2 star rather than 1 because there was no problem in food. And we have been given another coupon although we are not sure if we would visit...
