Sent management an email over a week ago and never heard back so thought a Google Review would be better.
On Saturday night I visited Deck 23 with a couple of friends - our first night out after lockdown so had high hopes. The night was disappointing to say the least. We arrived at 5.30 and were told we had to leave by 7pm. This would have been fine however, within the 1.5 hours we had a total of 6 drinks between us and only 3 entrees.
The service was slow, drinks were forgotten and we found ourselves asking multiple times where our items were. We didn’t want to cause a scene at the time but could also hear tables around us complaining. With that being said, the food that did arrive was delicious - we just wish we would’ve had the option of ordering more. At 6.50pm, under the impression that we wouldn’t be asked if we wanted anything else, I asked for the bill (on two separate occasions). At 7pm a waiter approached telling us we needed to leave to which I told him I had already asked for and was waiting on the bill.
The wait staff were very polite when we spoke with them but seemed as though they were avoiding tables. I understand coming out of lockdown has been a struggle but also feel as though the service was hugely lacking and not up to the prices charged....

I had a terrible experience at Deck23 on March 9, 2025, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. My partner and I went there for lunch, but from the start, the service was awful.
The host/waiter gave us a table, wiped it down, and then just walked away—no menu, no offer of tap water, nothing. We eventually figured out that we had to scan a QR code to order, which we did. But after 40 minutes, we still hadn’t even received a glass of water, let alone our food. Turns out, they never even got our order.
We asked to speak to the manager, but they never showed up. When we requested a refund, the waiter seemed confused and kept asking if I really wanted my money back. Finally, after speaking to a lady at the upstairs till, we were given a cash refund because they couldn’t process it back to our card.
To make things worse, another table nearby was also complaining about the same issue—no drinks, no food, just terrible service. This place is completely disorganized, and I wouldn’t waste my time here again. Keep walking—there are plenty of better...
Read moreDeck used to be good but in the last couple of years is slowly gone downhill.
The beer selection is bad, they used to have around 3 independent local breweries on tap. This dwindled to two, then one and now zero. The beer selection now sadly consists solely of mass produced corporate, multinational beer.
There seems to be no love, attention or basic care taken to the decor. The tables are dirty and sticky, the staff don't seem to wipe down the tables. The fabric on the chairs in the outside area is full of holes, tears and very dirty.
Overall it seems like the owners or management no longer care. It's sad because Deck is the only bar on Dee Why beach, there is no where else you can go for just a drink directly on the beach. They are really doing the area a disservice with the lack of care, attention and poor beer selection. Particularly when there are 4 local breweries in Brookvale and Mona Vale and Deck has chosen to stock multinational beers instead of supporting the...
