Terrible experience tonight, dining here with my two young children. The old asian female manager/owner took over from the young man taking our order who had nearly finished - don't know why, she didn't help. She angrily repositioned the non- working old floor heater to face forwards, rather than on us, even though the restaurant was practically empty. We were sitting at the back corner of the restaurant on old cracked vinyl chairs trying to be unobtrusive.
We ordered our food and waited awhile. The kids ordered entrees of calamari rings and pork dumplings. Both dishes arrived looking old, reheated, and tiny serving sizes, and the dumplings looked pale and doughy. I tried a calamari ring and couldn't actual bite through it - it was so tough, like a car tyre. The kids struggled through theirs. The portion and ring sizes were so small, probably because they had been reheated so many times. I called the young male waiter over and told him it was inedible, and he took my half eaten calamari ring into the kitchen to show the chef. No one came back to our table to tell us what was going on. Ten minutes later I called out to the young male waiter to find out if the dish was going to be replaced and he said "Yes". It was very hard to get anyone's attention, even with my kids calling out. The Hokkien noodle dish arrived which looked like someone had opened a packet from Coles and reheated it, although to lukewarm temperature. Meanwhile, in the kitchen I could hear the young male waiter trying to explain to the old female Asian manager/owner that he had promised the calamari dish to be replaced in its entirety. She was retorting loudly that, No, it was our fault for ordering calamari and she would not replace the dish. She said other things, and I felt sorry for the young male waiter who clearly didn't have a voice or any say in the matter. A few minutes later, she emerged with one calamari ring on a dish, to replace the one I had tried to eat. I couldn't look at her. It was still tough and reheated but not as bad as the other one. The chef is probably made to reheat old food. I asked the kids to hurry up because I didn't want to be there any longer. They barely touched the noodles so we called loudly to ask the waiter to bring me a container. I went up to the counter to pay and the little old Asian woman pushed aside the young male waiter to collect our money - $66.60 for disgusting small-serving sized reheated food. I told her that previously I could hear her arguing about us and the calamari rings. She said she had replaced the one which I had half eaten but wouldn't replace the whole dish (all 6 small tough pieces), even though the young male waiter had said the chef would replace them all. I replied that a normal restaurant would replace the entire dish to which she said nothing, instead trying valiantly to work out the change from $100. We were shocked at the price but I just wanted to get out of there. The young male waiter yelled out "sorry" while we walked away - I just wanted to go home and cook some nice proper food for the kids. This restaurant used to have good food - I live locally and order take away every week. I will keep ordering from Cowboy Thai in Dee Why - they are so much better in every way. I'll never eat at or order from "The Thai and I" again. Buyer...
Read moreI ordered from this restaurant for my family and I, we ordered 3 meals, an entree and a rice dish through the Uber eats app. We ended up receiving about 1/5th of what we ordered. Everything that we ordered was changed/altered in some way, the rice was downsized, the add-ons for the mains were removed and replaced with tofu, and one of the mains didn’t even arrive! When calling the restaurant to explain what had happened, they not only blamed the mistake on the driver, but said we were only eligible to receive our meal once their driver had come and picked up our half eaten, left over meals that had been messed up, or we could receive a credit for said restaurant, when half of my family wasn’t fed! Once explaining my frustrations, I was offered a free entree with the coming order of food that was actually ordered, when I explained that the food that had been delivered would be eaten and if they wanted to give us freebies, we would be happy with keeping this and not wasting food, they stated that this could not be done. Although the problem was resolved in the end I still find the way they went about it extremely unprofessional, awkward and quite disgusting, if they’re taking the left overs...
Read moreAbsolutely terrible service and dismal food. This is our local Thai, so we have given it many chances. Sometimes the meals can be good, but lately, the consistency has been shocking, and tonight, the server was aggressive towards us. The meals are much smaller, and you are lucky to get what you order. Tonight was the worst by far. We ordered veggie dishes that came with about three mouth falls of veggies, with vegetables missing from the menu. When we questioned the young lady serving us as to why many of the veggie were missing, she said they did not have them. When I mentioned that I hardly had any vegetables, she aggressively said there were lots on my plate and marched off. Paying $24 for three mouthfuls of vegetables is not what I call dinner. We have also had many issues with their meat dishes. No one goes to dinner to be spoken to rudely and...
