Read moreWe came at dinner time and the atmosphere was so serene, the restaurant played jazz with warm ambient lighting but we chose to sit outside amongst the beautiful scenery of the street. We ordered the Sicilian lasagna, papardelle ragu and a serving of tiramisu. The sicillian lasagna was quite a large portion but eating it was like you cant stop but to keep on monching. Thats how good it is. The shaving of fresh pecorino on top of the 6 tiered lasagna was heavenly. Each bite was filled with a sweet tangy decadent tomato, tender ground beef, soft gooey cheese held by a soothing lasagna sheet. It was so good. Whereas the papardelle ragu was covered in freshly shaven pecorino and I would say is second best to the Sicillian lasagna. The wide pasta was cooked al dente and was the perfect texture balanced with the tangy savoury ragu that was enveloped in a tomato based sauce. Whereas the tiramisu I would say is better than any I haved ate before. It’s a smooth yet decadent. The perfect combination of lady fingers, coffee, cream and cocoa powder. I would say eating here was a highlight of my day and the service was 100000/10. The staff were so sweet. They were attentive to us and provided more than we can ask for. To the female staff member she made my day thank you so much. I would highly recommend Dispensary 1908 for their heavenly food, the great vibes and the top...
Read moreSmall menu with very few options. Not a bad thing necessarily, but there isn’t great variety amongst the options. Enjoyed what I ordered and had a nice experience overall.
Service wasn’t bad throughout but at the end I was left with a bitter taste about it. I was one of the last 3 people in there as they were closing. This couple went up to pay and were handed free muffins that they had to “get rid of anyway”. I went to pay straight after and was not handed anything (don’t mind that, I wasn’t looking for freebies) but was instead asked specifically when paying by card if I wanted to “add a tip” to my purchase. The couple paying before me who got the free muffins was not prompted to tip, nor did I notice them offer to tip.
As a student it is rare I have a budget to take myself out to a café and I don’t have a budget for tips, unless service is exemplary. So it really wasn’t very nice to be singled out and asked to tip, especially after witnessing other customers just being given free stuff and not asked to tip.
Not sure of the reasoning for this vast and blatant difference in treatment. All I can say is that it was an odd way to finish up what was an otherwise quite...
