After googling a Spanish restaurant in Sydney, Spanish Tapas was the top result. This past Monday, I walked in expecting a quick meal and a place I could finish up some work, but what I received was an entire experience. The owner was not only kind and accommodating but he had Louis serve my table. He too was very kind and attentive. I observed the owner go to every table and check on guests which was really pleasant to see. I've worked in the restaurant industry for about three years, so I know the importance of a visible owner/manager.
The food - absolutely flavorful. I enjoyed the 1/2 priced tapas, everything from the garlic mushrooms, garlic prawns, garlic potatoes, and paella. The flavor was truly fresh and authentic, and there was even enough for me to take away. My favorite part of the meal were the churros, which the owner told me were homemade.
The drinks - STRONG. You won't be dissapointed by the selection and taste of these handcrafted drinks. If you're lucky, the bartender might even make what is now my favorite drink of all time, a Lychee infused cocktail.
Honestly, you really can't beat Spanish Tapas for the flavor, drinks, and ambiance. Oh, did I forget to mention - they have Flamenco dancers every Monday night that make you feel as though you're spending a night out in Spain. I even had the opportunity to dance with the ladies.
Thanks Spanish Tapas for making my Monday night enjoyable and memorable. I promised to go back, and I certainly will be...especially for...
Read moreThe last time I was here was about 15 years ago and I said I would never be back. I should have stuck to my guns, this time it disappointed just as much. The kids love pizza but they didn't eat this pizza The cheese and potato croquettes for me was probably the winning dish in my opinion. The lamb skewer - maybe I was unlucky but it was just a lump of fat which is inedible. Grandma and grandmas friend said the lamb skewers were very tough and chewy. Grandma said the pipis were very gritty. Grandma and her friend said the calamari was barely average and they've had much better elsewhere. The garlic prawns were ok. Grandma's friend said the meatballs were terrible. They were dry and tasted like they had been mixed with a meat substitute. Grandma and her friends ate at a tapas place in Belmont only the day before and the comparison just does not compare. Watch out for what is not on the eat as much as you can Monday menu as you will get charged for salad and garlic bread also make sure you check the bill as we had items added that should have been included in the eat as much as you want. it is cash only and my last comments would be it will definitely be at least another 15 years before I even think about returning. Life is too short to be charged $245 for what was a disappointment...
Read moreAn awesome Spanish restaurant - fantastic vibe and delicious food.
We went to Spanish Tapas with two friends and shared everything. For starters we shared: (1) Berenjena A La Plancha - grilled eggplant with honey balsamic glaze and caramelised onions (2) Patatas Bravas - potatoes in spicy tomato sauce - which had a great amount of spice (3) Croquetas De Pollo - chicken croquettes (4) Croquetas De Jamón - Spanish cure ham croquettes. All the starters were delicious and very flavourful.
The signature dish at Spanish Tapas is paella and wow, it did not disappoint. We shared a Valenciana paella for 4 which had rice, chicken & seafood - lots of chicken and seafood (prawns, mussels, pipis, calamari) and it was delicious - with the calamari so soft and tasty.
And to finish the night we had 2 serves of Churros Con Chocolate (finger like pastries coated in sugars served with a smooth rich hot chocolate) - the perfect finish to a great meal.
Drinks were well priced. Service was extremely attentive on arrival but as the restaurant became busy it waned a little. And an absolute highlight were the Flamenco dancers who performed at around 8:30pm - sensational and such amazing talent.
A perfect place to meet friends - great food, great...
