The dirty red cafe has it all.

I'm actually impressed how they turned a simple yet uniquely chosen mozerella toastie into something not on this earthly plane.

I bought a small latte and a Buffalo mozerella toastie, tomato & basil pesto.

The coffee was good. The breakfast menu item, as expected was what rounded it off to such a good morning.

The toasties flavours were jampacked, yet subtle. The type of distinct chosen buffalo mozerella as the base was flavourful, and smooth as the name suggests. Packing it with nicely layered basil pesto with fresh tomatoes was the greatest idea I've seen, and to think for a toastie and 4 main ingredients you'd just be stopped at a haul. The two bread was buttered and toasted to a perfect crunch. I am shocked at how stunningly well these things were brought together by the chef barista.

I ordered mushrooms too, and I could go on all day about how I've never had restaurant quality mushrooms taste that good, and they're only a side on the dish.

Well done chaps at the dirty red. You've impressed me beyond capable words....

Dirty Red is hands-down one of the best local spots in Glebe. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm, laid-back vibe that instantly makes you feel at home. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between trendy and cozy, and their leafy courtyard is a little slice of inner-city paradise — ideal for lazy brunches or quiet catch-ups with friends.

The food is nothing short of exceptional. Their menu has something for everyone, from hearty classics to more refined café fare, all made with fresh ingredients and a lot of heart. The coffee? Absolutely top-tier. Whether you’re a flat white regular or a filter coffee enthusiast, they know their beans and brew with care.

What truly sets Dirty Red apart, though, is the atmosphere. It’s clear the staff love what they do, and it shines through in the service. Friendly, efficient, and always up for a chat, they make the whole experience even better.

If you’re looking for a go-to local café that consistently nails food, coffee, and good vibes —...

UPDATE: We took Dylan’s offer to return and give the food another try and we loved it! I think the first time we just got unlucky, because we were extremely impressed the second time around. We chose the potato cake and maple pumpkin dishes and they were both delicious and unique. The menu seems to have been updated and included many attractive options. The coffee was great as well! We really appreciated that the staff was kind and considerate in taking our review seriously and wanting to give us a better experience. It shows how much they genuinely care about their customers. I am proud to say I now highly recommend Dirty Red! ORIGINAL REVIEW: Dirty Red is an adorable cafe with kind staff, but unfortunately the food leaves something to be desired. The pancakes were dry and did not taste fresh and the chili egg dish was served with stale, thin pita. I really wanted to like the food because I liked the environment, but sadly it did not live up to expectations. Maybe I just chose the wrong dishes! :(
