The worst experience I’ve ever had. This level of unprofessionalism and poor customer service is unacceptable. I strongly urge the management to re-train their staff to handle orders accurately and treat customers with basic respect. Experiences like this should not happen at any establishment.
We ordered two coffees and a scone, but waited 30 minutes with no sign of it being prepared. Customers who arrived after us received their orders before we did. When I approached the waitstaff who took our order to ask about the delay, she interrupted me mid-sentence, casually claimed it was being prepared, and walked away.
It became clear she hadn’t even sent our order to the kitchen. Another staff member brought us coffee, so I asked him why it took so long. When I tried to explain the situation, he simply responded, “Would you like to cancel?” This dismissive attitude was shocking.
He then left and sent another staff member to speak with us, avoiding the issue entirely. Despite the mistake being theirs, we were forced to wait longer and were treated with rudeness throughout.
I strongly urge you to provide proper training for your staff to ensure this level of unprofessionalism...
Read moreLove this hidden little nook of dining glee! INTERIOR: Situated above part of all the bookshelves at Street level (entrance towards the back of the store), I was pleasantly surprised to find little alcoves for dining and sets of 2 people tables. Ideal to have a coffee or meal from. Not only if you've been busy shopping for books, but even as a great little hide away from the busy hustle outside in the middle of the city. Dark timber, old nostalgic, yet clean and simple design, makes this a great compliment to their books. LOCATION: Located right near both Town Hall and Wynyard train stations and along the tram line. This place is not ideally suited to car parking, if you do drive, a local car parking station is likely best. STAFF: Very knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. They are well versed in their books and the latest offerings. MENU: I'm not sure how often it changes, I'll upload the November 2020 one. There's some vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. Yes they have gf bread and almond milk. It's very hearty homely food, with lots of East European dishes like cabbage rolls! Recommend & will...
Read moreI have read reviews before coming here and I have expected to receive better service. I love coffee and atmosphere here except the way a waitress treated me. At first when she took my order, not one smile showed on her face and even when I said “thank you” she went away not even intend to say anything back. However I simply thought that she might be tired or sth. Next thing is since I didn’t know the kitchen has closed, I asked her with all respect, quoted “Can I please one scone and a cup of water? Thank you?” And she immediately said, quoted “No” to my face without any explanation. I was confused and to be franked, quite in shocked as she said that to me with such a questionable attitude. Then I have to ask why to get an answer from her that the cafe is about to close. And after a while I also asked her if I have to leave as this is my first time here, she again only said “yes” and said that the cafe will shut the door, etc. Since when customers are treated that way? I myself have been working in hospitality and retail industry and I can assure that this is not how customers...
