Fresh off the Floor At Marrickville Seafood — Restaurant in Sydney

We have been loyal customers for over 20 years but last nights experience has done it for us. The service was terrible, one of the young female staff ( managers daughter) had bravado and extremely inconsiderate and very rude.We had ordered 5 meals and the fifth order they had forgotten to cook it and had the other four sitting on the counter for at least 10 minutes when this staff member was asked " what's happening with our meals" because every other customers who came after us were already served and had left, she replied in a stern manner " when your buzzer goes off that's when the meal is ready". I waited a few more minutes and went inside to ask as we had a young child who was getting irritable waiting for his dinner. I went inside only to be told by the same staff member " you ordered grilled fish and it's takes time to cook ( mind you 4 meals were already cooked and sitting on the counter) I became infuriated and asked for a refund as I wasn't going to wait for the 5th meal to be cooked. I was refused a refund and I walked off. At the end of this ordeal 4 of our meals, we were extremely disappointed with, the fish was cold, the chips cold and soggy and the garden salad end up being a ( steamed) salad. All they had to do is admit they had forgotten the 5th meal apologise for their mistake instead of trying to find a million excuses and not admitting to their fault. Cool picture, you think, Brian gave a great review a month ago, but my experience wasn’t the same, with this picture why push up to the front, why not leave it consistent especially if pricing starts from $10, $14 I opted for $14 as this picture is quite deceptive thinking I’m gonna get a lot of prawns for my worth, but no, they scrape from the back, so I would be getting more cream than what’s perceived, then I asked the manager he ignorantly said you get how it comes, how it comes is a joke, if you levelled it out and not push everything to the front, there wouldn’t have been an issue, I accepted the original employee had a job to do, but for the owner, manager to blatantly ignore what people really want and give more dairy intake than the protein, so just be weary if you see this picture, cause you won’t get what Brian picture showed, all a sales deception don’t fall for it, the fish n chips though were only reason got a 3star from no fault with that even pricing for grilled was good, customer satisfaction half a star for, look after your customers and they will look after you, make sure your salad is consistent and not pushed towards the front level it out always, hope this review helps, I won’t be going back because this is my last weekend in NSW. Walking past what at first seems to be an ordinary fishmongers with plentiful fresh seafood on ice proudly displayed, I was tempted inside for lunch by a local companion when we had a hankering for fish and chips.

It is always a treat to be able to see the fish available before your eyes and to choose your exact fillet and method of preparation. While my partner went for that option and had a fish meal with Barramundi, I went for a more exotic sounding salmon burger.

It was a great lunch for the price; on a sunny day we sat outside on the tables and enjoyed the meal and the world passing us by. As the midday sun intensified they extended the shade awnings over our area which was a good call.

Neither the fish, or the basic frozen chips that accompanied our meals had much going on in the way of seasoning, and this we rectified with the salt and pepper provided on the table. However my salmon burger was moist and delicious, well seasoned with fresh herbs throughout.
