We had the pleasure of hosting my husband's 40th birthday celebration at the Friend in Hand Hotel last Saturday night, and it was an unforgettable experience! We chose to celebrate up in Georgie's Bar, and from the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations.
First and foremost, the venue itself was charming and had a warm, inviting atmosphere. The rustic yet cozy ambiance added a unique touch to the evening.
The staff at the Friend in Hand Hotel were exceptional in every way. They were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure that all our guests had a fantastic time. Their professionalism truly shone through, and they made us feel like VIPs throughout the entire evening.
Now, let's talk about the food! The culinary offerings at the Friend in Hand Hotel were simply outstanding. The diverse menu catered to all tastes, and our guests couldn't stop raving about how delicious everything was.
But what really set this celebration apart were the entertainment options. The pool tables and arcade games provided endless fun and excitement for our guests. And the icing on the cake? Georgie, the resident cockatoo, made a surprise appearance, charming everyone with her playful antics and adding a unique and memorable touch to the night.
Overall, our experience at the Friend in Hand Hotel was nothing short of amazing. I can't thank the staff enough for their exceptional service and hospitality. Without a doubt, I would choose this venue again for any future functions. If you're looking for a venue that combines a fantastic atmosphere, top-notch staff, delicious food, and fun entertainment, the Friend in Hand Hotel is the perfect choice. Our celebration was a resounding success, thanks to this wonderful...
Read more2 visits in just over a year, both terrible, both due to staff attitude sadly, that's ignoring all the character having been ripped out of the place. Went to watch play read through, had drinks outside after with some of the performers, so enjoyable until the paralytic drunk publican accosted us all, raving about public housing Tennant's and how he and the new owners would be ensuring they're all removed from the area, to allow "real customers" to live near the hotel! We tried to change the subject, back to the performance, oh no, his vitriol and hatred of the local public housing Tennant's had him frothing and not caring what we.patrons wanted. We all got up and left, went for drinks near central in peace, before catching trains. Made the mistake of dropping by yesterday, felt like a little flutter on the pokies. Asked staff member if they still had any, what a mistake. He burst into a prolonged monologue of having gotten rid of them because they bring "the wrong type" rather insulting, especially when I hadn't asked! A pub to avoid now sadly. Dropped in now and again over the last 35yrs. Was always an interesting and welcoming place, these people have sadly removed all of the welcome, thumbs down for spewing bile and...
Read moreThis place has a very nice atmosphere. The staff are good and always helpful. Even the customers all have a care free attitude all the while enjoying themselves. All age types go there, but with the majority are a younger crowd, like UNI students & backpackers. The whole place is decked out with an assortment of pictures, historic photos and and other things such as dressed up manequins, nick nacks and even a train that goes around above the bar. There is a smoking area, bistro, ATM, betting services and poker machines. There are different types of enteraiment on most nights, such as live music. But on each last Wednesday of each month they have Hermit Crab races. The building itself is an historic style establishment on a corner, with the pub having 2 floors and 3 bar areas. Upstairs they also have 2 x Pool Tables, 1 × Table Tennis Table & 1 x Pinball Machine. (Will find the internal closed off room for smoking). Would recommend this place for anyone wanting to go somewhere for a new experience unlike some of other generic pubs around Sydney....
