Iām a frequent goer to the Chatswood Post office and have been enjoying their services and the efficiency of their staff for the past 3 years. Today, however at 10.40 am, when I wanted to send a package overseas, there were two issues I encountered:
no clear instructions/guidance on how to prepare the custom declarations. This was usually done by filling out a paper custom declaration form but they have changed the system recently. I just found that out today. All I found was a sign at the table that reads āpreparing your custom declarationā and thereās a QR code underneath. No announcements, no instructions. This QR code sign could easily be missed because there are so many QR code these days for COVID 19 checking in etc. A nice staff member helped me navigate through the Auspost office website to find the online form and told me briefly what to do.
When I was about to get my package processed for shipment, I was met with rude staff (an older lady, around 50s, Asian descent). With the new system as per 1) you had to show a text message sent by Aust Post as confirmation of the submitted custom declaration and provide the barcode to them. This lady impatiently asked me to show her the barcode. Afterwards she printed the custom declaration form and asked me to sign my name. She put an āXā on the form, indicating where to sign. However this āXā was placed outside the signature and date fields. I was a little confused, still processing the new process and signed it anyway. She saw where I signed and with exasperation and huge sigh, said ānot here, HERE!ā.
I understand that your employer/manager rolled out a new system and the staff probably scrambled to adjust to it but good customer service should always prevail. Your customers are adjusting to the new system and are not familiar so you should exercise some patience too. Better yet, make proper announcements and give written clear instructions somewhere in your post office so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe ladyās that work here at the post office are lovely and amazing at their job. Whenever Iāve had any sort of encounter with the one old angry white man that works here itās been absolutely horrible. This guys shows that he hates his job and his life. And has never ever been anything more of horrible. Iām a 20 year old girl wanting to return my package. I waited in line today from 15-20 mins to see someone. (Which I do not mind at all) as Iām waiting in line I could see him being rude to another lady so, as I do every other time, I prayed I didnāt get him to serve me. I also saw the other ladyās putting tape on other peoples packages. As soon as it got to me I had to see this man. So I tried to be positive because I know heās just mean because he hates his life. In short he told me Iām wasting his time because I didnāt have tape over the top of my package. He said I have to pay the upmost for the most expensive package to put it in. I said sorry the place Iām returning a package for said I could use the same one. And that I spoke to a lady last time I was there and she told me they could put a piece of tape over it. (Because thatās what theyād done before for me also) I asked if I could buy tape and he said I could buy the $15 tape at the back but he wouldnāt wait for me and Iād have to and wait in line for another 20 mins because he did not want to help me. I asked to see someone else and he refused saying he would never allow that. I have no idea how this guy still has a job. But I never want to have to interact with this man again. Please...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to get passport photocopies certified. Old caucasian guy at the front just told me straight up āno.ā I thought he was joking and he went ādoes it look like Iām joking?ā
He then asked me ādo you know what certified means?ā like I didnāt understand. Went to explain that he had to go through all those pieces of paper and it was a lot of work. Pretty demeaning on their end. Too bad you have to do your job, I know. Said it all without much remorse or change of expression. Seemed to have antisocial tendencies or a personality disorder of some sort.
The other day I was posting something to the US. Young caucasian woman with dark ponytail told me to move my things from my bigger bag to a smaller one for cheaper.
Thought she would help me at the counter but just told me to leave and do it in the back. All to MOVE some things and rewrite the address on a new bag. Literally watched me scramble to get my things without lifting a finger. Then I had to line up again when it was so simple and couldāve been done at the counter. Wildly unhelpful, unresponsive, and expressionless. Brain fog, maybe? Couldnāt attempt doing a lick of work for a customer. It seems that most of the staff here are mentally unwell. Other Asian lady with a Bob was helpful though. Will not be visiting again lest management hires more able workers so customers...
