A very unsettling experience. We came here for dinner, thinking to indulge in some sushi as a treat after months of lock down. Having seen the mostly very positive reviews here, we thought it was a safe bet. How wrong we were.
We arrived at 7pm on a Thursday and it was quiet, with 3 other groups of diners. We were seated at the conveyor belt. One look at the sushi rotating around and we knew we have made a mistake. The fish and seafood looks dry and dull, like it has been sitting on the belts for hours. It was less than appetising and we didnt want to risk food poisoning so we decided to order from the menu. We ordered 3 hand rolls, a squid nigiri, ramen and a salmon poke bowl, specifically picking items that are made to order.
The food arrived quickly but were unremarkable. The worst was my poke bowl. The rice was served steaming hot which started to cook the raw salmon. Luke warm salmon that are not particularly fresh was not a combination I will ever want to repeat.
While we were eating, more customers arrived. For some unknown reason, the waitress decided to seat all of these new diners around the front section of the conveyor belt, which meant we had 10 people crowding around the an area of no more than 9 metres square while the rest of the restaurant sat empty????? Social distancing anyone??? We were so uncomfortable that we scoffed down our food and got out of there ASAP.
Overall, it was the worst dining experience I have had. Food was below average, the staff was uninterested and they really need to revise their COVID safe plan. Needless to say it will not be a place I...
Read moreWe went here Sunday at 8.15 pm. The time sheet at the door says the restaurant close at 9.00. We quickly ordered a party plate of 45$ and the waitress told us will take 15 minutes to arrive. Then, after 5 minutes (8.20/8.25) she came back and said to us that the kitchen is closing so she could not take any other order. Then the party plate arrived around 8.30 and she told us that if we want there are boxes for us to take that home. At 8.45 they turn off the music and we decided to go away unhappy because we neither have time to eat half of the dinner with calm and everyone inside the restaurant was looking at us waiting our living. I am not discussing the food that also was made under the standard for being serve quickly (it is not the first time we came here), but you should have tell us that was no time for order that particular dish because the kitchen close in 10 minutes. I expected the restaurant close at 9 as is written not at 8.30 or 8.45. You should say to people that kitchen close earlier than the floor and suggest them to order other things if they don't have time for the dinner. You just took the money and close everything around us pushing...
Read moreK’s Sushie is located a few stores from the famous ice Kiran bar. My first impression of the restaurant wasn’t exciting, but the food wasn’t bad either.
The layout of the restaurant consists of a few tables that seat up to 12 people and the rest around the sushi train with a maximum capacity of 30 people. The interior is simple with hardly any Japanese decor compared to other Japanese restaurants with bamboo interiors. The only thing I enjoyed was sitting around the train with the chefs in front me and seeing how sushi is made was quite entertaining.
The menu actually has a lot to offer but by order only. Don’t expect to see everything from the menu appear on the train because you won’t! Surprisingly the train was quite empty and the chef was unable to keep up with the demand as more customers started coming through the doors. Also ordered sushi rolls took a very long time to be served👎. The positives for K’s sushi were the quality, freshness and price of each dish. I don’t think you’ll find a cheaper sushi train around in Burwood 👍🏻 that taste good...
