We went to Blacktown to eat at our favourite Nepalese restaurant. Parked the car and while walking out saw a sign ‘Desi Chaatwala’. We always crave for a good pani puri so thought we’ll just get in and enjoy a plate of paninpuri.

When we got in the place we realised the menu looked much more delightful than we initially thought. Got a table for four and the very friendly server told us about their specials.

We got Dahi bhalla chaat, Aloo tikki chaat, pav bhaji, Pani puri and a cone bhel. When we looked at the prices on the menu, we thought the servings will be minimal hence ordered more. You don’t get a filling portion for under $10 anywhere these days. But we were proven wrong when the dishes quickly started getting served. A portion of chaat will be more than enough for a single person.

If you’re going in a group, it’s best as you can share every dish. Not just a spoonful but dig in for more and still have enough for everyone to share.

Dahi halls and aloo tikki were too good. Pani puri was good. Bhel was passable but pav bhaji was a big surprise. I didn’t think you’d get a tasty pav bhaji in a Punjabi place. But it was really good.

Overall we enjoyed our unplanned visit. Would definitely go back. The only issue we had was the location. Too much rough crowd outside which made the family uncomfortable. Not a single issue with the...

Overall Rating: 7/10

Desi Chaatwala offers a variety of flavorful dishes at reasonable prices. The Bhel Puri Chat, although scoring a 6/10 for taste, is a great value at $8.90, earning it an 8/10 for affordability. The Kala Chana Chat and Tandoori Chicken Momos both impress with a 7/10 and 6.5/10 for taste respectively, and their affordability boosts their ratings to 9/10 and 8.5/10.

However, the restaurant faces challenges with parking and slower customer service, albeit friendly. The pricing of certain items, like the Non-Veg Thali at $24, seems steep considering the ambiance.

While Desi Chaatwala may not be a go-to spot for this month, its value-for-money offerings make it a viable option for future visits.

Overall, Desi Chaatwala provides a decent dining experience with room for improvement in service efficiency and...

We, a family of 5, went for dinner, and unfortunately, it was a terrible experience. The food was awful, and there was no professionalism at all. The atmosphere felt like we were at someone's house, rather than a restaurant. The quality of the food was so poor that we can't even rate it. It seemed like they opened the restaurant without any real knowledge or professional chefs. It felt like they were just reselling packaged food. The customer service was also disappointing.

We strongly advise anyone reading this review not to waste their time or money here. We decided to go after seeing ratings above 4, but it completely ruined our dinner. We ordered chaats that were bland and stale, the paneer chilli was cold and rubbery, and the chicken chilli tasted like...

Nice little place that I have heard of recently and visited with family recently. At a very convenient location with great atmosphere and ambience. Staff were very courteous. Tried samosa chaat, tikki chaat, momos, paneer paratha, pani puri, pav bhaji, pani puri and faloodas. Not at all disappointed with the taste and quality. Portion sizes were good for the price. Falooda is one of the best that we've tried. Would definitely go back to try the non-veg dishes and the thali. Review of other dishes - on my 2nd visit tried chicken handi lazeez and tawa rotis. Was disappointed with both as the rotis were very thick. The parathas compared to the rotis were thin and delicious. I'd rather stick to parathas, paneer momos and chats whenever I visit.
