Been here a couple of times for pure convenience as it’s closest to my home. Coffee is different and mediocre every time so I prefer to go elsewhere but on this particular occasion I ordered a banana bread for my kid. I noticed that it was very hard and one other time we ordered the bread it was very soft. I asked if it was fresh and from today (since it’s Monday and he’s closed for the weekend) and he just kept banging on about me inspecting the individually wrapped (in plastic which really is ridiculous these days) bread. I said they’re all hard and all different sizes I would at least like to pick one for myself especially since it’s nearly $7 a pop! Anyway he just kept talking over me about inspecting the bread but they’re all wrapped in plastic and sitting on the counter where he talks to staff all day. Surely if there’s a “hygiene” issue for me picking one up it wouldn’t be sitting right under his mouth in the open where he serves people all day. Anyway I said next time you can go through them for me, but then he started to talk about me to his staff member, however I speak the same language as them so I could understand everything. Tarik is very rude and aggressive and unpleasant to deal with in the morning. Officially nothing convenient left about coming to this place.
I also noticed that most of these reviews are fake. For example the one from “6 days ago” by gundhawk. It has photos of the old shop front which they haven’t been in for months. Smh.
I didn’t squeeze the banana bread. Good one though. So typical, defensive and insincere. You also do not have over 10 years of experience making coffee and if you actually did it’s a weird brag cause you’re coffee...
Read moreLa Taza has a lovely setup outside the light rail. It's a clear favourite amongst the locals.
Now I'm only rating this from a vegans point of view. Their lunch burrito was pretty average. I had the veggies with 'healthy option'. Which I believe was mushroom and capsicum with quinoa and kale.
Burrito was well constructed but the balance wasnt there. It had this lingering sour taste and it was a bit wet, probably from the quinoa. The chips were a little underdone.
Given there are very little options in pyrmont. I'll probably go back. I'll get the rice and beans...

It was a good thing, because the food and coffee were great too and I'd have been sad to have missed it. Really love coming to this hole in the wall cafe, you're treated well! Tradie burrito and breakfast burrito bowl were great. Consistent and delicious. It's a lovely spot near...
