My partner and I have been to Lees Fortuna a few times but tonight was unfortunately the last.
I am allergic to gluten and after mentioning this a couple of times I was recommended a few dishes. When the first entree came out I asked if it had been cooked in oil that other gluten-containing foods had been cooked in (as it was not explained to me when ordering that the dish was fried) and after being told "yes," explained that because of my allergy unfortunately I couldn't eat it. The gentlemen said that I should have told him and I didn't have the energy to explain that I had clearly told him twice before ordering. We were then begrudgingly brought out our other entree (note, the original entree was not replaced), along with fried rice and sweet and sour chicken, all of which were meant to be gluten-free. The service for the rest of the meal was abyssmal. When paying, the bill had come to $70, which was hard to believe for two small entrees (one of which I couldn't eat), a small fried rice and a smallish main with a very small side of plain rice. Now I'm at home and I feel like I've been kicked in the stomach because I know that there was gluten somewhere in the meal and I have no confidence that someone who works in the food industry really knows anything about an allergy that 1% of Australians have. ย ย ย Read moreLees Fortuna Court Chinese Restaurant is one of our favourite Chinese restaurants in Sydney and one of our 'go to' restaurants that the whole family enjoys. Based on the dining room being busy most of the times that we are there, many others agree!
The Cantonese Chinese food here is super delicious. Some of the dishes cater for those looking for more westernised Chinese dishes that one can yearn for, like the plump Honey King Prawns which we absolutely love, but there is more traditional Cantonese fare as well.
As you enter the restaurant from Falcon Street, you are struck by a surprisingly large dining room that has a charming windowless wood-themed design that makes you feel cut off from the world and is filled with sporting memorabilia, including many autographed tops and plates on the walls that draw the eye.
The staff are always extremely helpful, engaging and efficient.
With respect to parking, there is very limited parking in the basement, but one can park on Falcon Street just outside when it is not a clearway or a No Stopping zone, or you can park for free for up to 2 hours in the nearby Woolworths car park (which is only a block away).

ย ย ย Read moreIf youโre looking for an authentic Chinese meal, Leeโs probably isnโt the place for you. Catering to a more western palate, they specialise in large main dishes that tend to be a little more oily than I like. Disappointingly, the dumplings were not my favourite, being quite bland with a very thick โskinโ and not a lot of meat inside. My favourite dish was the Chinese broccoli, and considering we had some of the fan favourites (satay prawn, sizzling beef, Peking duck...) it was a bit of a let down.
Not a bad meal if youโre looking for Westernised Chinese, but be aware that there is a good amount of MSG, and not a lot of flavour variety within the dishes, even if theyโre each made of entirely different ingredients.
Would say there are much more exciting, authentic Chinese restaurants around Sydney if youโre looking for good food, but worth a look for their impressive array of...
