If you’re on the hunt for authentic Chinese cuisine, this place is a must-visit, especially if you’re a fan of Sichuan-style dishes. Their famous fish fillet with Sichuan pickles is a standout—full of bold flavors and just the right amount of heat. The honey chicken was another favorite, perfectly crispy with a sweet glaze that’s just irresistible.
The wonton soup was pure comfort, with a light yet flavorful broth that complements the delicate wontons perfectly. The fried rice was nicely done, serving as a great base for all the other dishes. I also enjoyed the black pepper Mongolian beef and the sweet and sour pork, both of which paired excellently with the steamed rice.
As for the coconut panna cotta, it was a bit too strong on the coconut flavor for my taste, but it’s definitely worth trying if you enjoy bold, tropical desserts. The iced lemon tea was refreshing and paired well with the richness of the dishes.

Read moreOn the night of Sunday, July 14th, we visited the restaurant. The food was good. However, when we arrived, the male staff at the counter was nice. Once we were seated, a lady with long, untied hair insisted we order more food, despite our saying we didn't need that much. She kept insisting that the fish portions were small and that our order was insufficient. We felt pressured and ended up ordering more, but we couldn’t finish it.
When we checked out, the male staff was nice, so we tried to complain to him. To our surprise, he said, "You have two girls, so that’s why." But when we placed our order, they already knew we had two girls and still pressured us to order more. We expected at least an apology for the female staff's behavior. Instead, the male staff not only failed to apologize but also defended her, claiming the amount we ordered was normal. We felt terrible, as it seemed they were only interested in making money.
Additionally, the environment was very dirty, and the lady who took our order didn’t tie her hair up, raising concerns about their...

I recently dined at LOON FONG in Haymarket, and I’m still thinking about the food! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, authentic atmosphere that instantly felt inviting.
The menu offers an impressive range of traditional Chinese dishes, and every single item we ordered was packed with flavor. The standout for me was the [insert your favorite dish – e.g., “salt and pepper squid” or “crispy skin chicken”] – perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. The dumplings were fresh and juicy, and the stir-fried greens had that perfect wok hei aroma that’s hard to find.
Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the service is attentive without being intrusive. Whether you're after a casual dinner or celebrating something special, LOON FONG delivers the kind of food and experience that makes you want to come back again and again.
Highly recommended if you're in Sydney and craving real Chinese food that...
