Before heading out for the Bridge Climb in Sydney, we decided to lunch at Lotus on Walsh Bay to enjoy some dumplings and Chinese food. I had tried Lotus in Galeries, so was pretty keen to see the difference in the food quality here. Lotus is very well known for their duck pancakes, kung pao chicken and dumplings selection. This day however, we went for a totally vegetarian menu selection, so none of those meat classics in this review today.

Food: 8/10

I really loved the dumplings and eggplant, but wasn’t too impressed by the noodles.

Menu: 7/10

It’s a concise menu that caters more to meat eaters for sure. For vegetarians you realistically only have 2 dumpling options and the eggplant without having to change up the noodle dishes.

Service: 9/10

I loved the service and thought the staff was very friendly. Our food was brought out to us quickly too.

Ambiance: 9/10

Again, I love the set up of the restaurant blending Australian motifs into the space. It’s a really neat and clean dining room and of course how I can ignore the exposed brick wall!.

Value for Money: 7/10

The plates are not too big, but you do get a nice amount of...

Worst service in any restaurant I've been to in Sydney. Bookings say 1 1/2 hours per sitting. We ordered 6 items and at 1 hour and 19 min in we had only received 1 of those items. No one checked on us during that time. I had to flag a person down to ask where our food was, as several other people had come in after us and had their food. After another 5 miner were told that there was confusion in the kitchen and they were working in it. 5 more minutes pass and I again had to ask status of our food. At this point I had to go up to the bar and ask for a manager. They agreed that the service was unacceptable and offered to rush our food but again we would have to wait for that to happen. No paying customer should ever need to follow up on where their food is in a restaurant. I understand mistakes happen but when you fail to inform or even check in with a customer, you've essentially said, we don't care about you. All this could have been solved by simply coming over to us to apologize for the delay and make sure we were ok. BTW, we were here for my husband's birthday and your inability to provide simple service made for a less than...

📍A small tucked away dumpling restaurant in front of the theatres at Walsh Bay. Accessible through 325 & 324 Buses from town hall.

👨‍🍳 Nice ambiance and fantastic service!!

🥟We had the Peking Duck Pancakes, Shittake Mushroom Dumplings, Sichuan Pork and Prawn Wontons, Pan Fried Chicken and Kimchi Dumplings and Pork and Prawn Siu Mai.

⭐️The Duck Pancaked were absolutely phenomenal. My favourite dish of the night was the Sichuan Pork and Prawn Wontons drenched in chilli oil. This is a must try.

✅The Pork and Siu Mai was simple and wonderful.

🧡As I am not a huge fan of mushroom, especially when the taste of mushroom is overpowering - I did not enjoy it as much as the other ones but if you do enjoy such a dish - it’s the one for you!

Lastly, the pan fried chicken and kimchi dumplings did not have much flavour in them. The base was burnt and the taste of the oil overpowered the entire the dumpling. I could not taste the kimchi due to this.

🌃 The restaurant was really nice and the service was amazing. This is just my personal review and opinion - must try for yourself!! Thank you for your...

"My wife and I visited tonight, and while the food was undeniably delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant enough, we were incredibly disappointed by the drink service. We specifically asked for mimosas, which, is simply Prosecco and orange juice. Despite asking three separate times, we were repeatedly told they couldn't make them. It's baffling that a restaurant couldn't accommodate such a basic request. The food itself was fantastic, and we enjoyed the overall vibe of the restaurant. However, the inability to provide a simple mimosa significantly impacted our experience. It felt like a lack of flexibility and willingness to please customers. If you're looking for a restaurant with great food, this place is worth a try. Just don't expect them to make a mimosa."
