Not Bread Alone Restaurant & Cafe — Restaurant in Sydney

After arriving at 11am with a birthday booking for a friend we found it difficult to catch a waiter to even take our drinks order let alone our food order. By 11.15/20 our food order was finally taken and we spent the next hour chatting with our stomachs growling as we watched other people come, order, eat and leave. We managed to catch our elusive waiter who then told us that one chef did not come and so there was only one chef on. When we complained about the long delay and not being communicated to we were told by him and 2 other waitstaff that there were numerous UberEats orders and that there were certain dishes that took longer. When our food finally came an hour later it was subpar and definitely not worth the wait. My gnocchi was not seasoned correctly and it appeared to be the same across the table. The food was not warm and the ricotta hotcakes were definitely not 'wow' but were stodgy and barely cooked in parts and burnt in others. I would definitely not recommend this place due to the lack of communication and after all of that the only thing they discounted to us after the wait was our drinks and they gave us some chocolate balls to take with us. I ordered via Menulog with instructions. I called as soon as order was placed to confirm order was fine with additional instructions. When order received I had missing items. I called again and the girl I spoke to was lovely and apologetic and said I would be refunded for my meal (not the whole order) due to her misunderstanding despite my notes and call. She said she was unsure how to process a refund so will call me back when owner was in. Owner called me back and was absolutely horrible. I explained the issue, explained that I called to confirm instructions and the order still came out wrong the owner then became sarcastic, dismissive, threatening, condescending, and abusive, and said she will refund $7 for the bacon that was missing from my order. I was advised “sure do you what you want, whatever works for you, if you’re local why don’t you come down and find out” To the owner Barbara, please do better. I used to love this little restaurant, however no more. This place has become a place makes you feel "not wanted nor respected". We waited for over 70mins while take away/delivery orders were flying out of the restaurant before requesting to let us just pay for earlier beverages and leave the restaurant. The senior lady tried to persuade us to stay because they were then cooking for us but we insisted on moving on for the day by just pay for what we had been served over 1hour prior deciding to leave. When she realized we had set our hearts on moving on, she emited words with a deep threatning tone "Don't pay for anything then, you are upset, just go", then sharp toned additional word "GO" ordering us to get out A.S.A.P. They have lost interest in serving their customers in the actual restaurant. If you are after a place where at least treat you with adequate respect, I recommend to avoid this place.
