It took a 20 minutes + bus ride and a 1 hour + train ride from Sydney to Cronulla. Enough time to get my never full stomach in need of some energy again.
After a quick search in Maps I stumbled upon Pilgrims. I like the name and the reviews were good so I decided to take a look at the photos, read some of the reviews and find out how far it was from the train station. Since everything looked nice I decided to give the place a try: and am I happy that I did!
The location is great if coming by train as the restaurant is only a couple of minutes walk from the station. But, if you're not coming by train you still MUST come to Pilgrims if you enjoy vegetarian food options!
Location is great and the eating area is decorated very tastefully. Lots of air flow and natural light.
Ordering is easy but I'm not a fan of paying after each order. Is this because Australians had a habit of eating and running? Trust issues?... Lots of great options on the menu but as soon as I saw the halloumi mushroom burger it was a no brainer. I also ordered a side of sweet potato fries, and had an espresso and fudge for dessert.
Burger and fries are as good as it gets. Lots of flavour, decent portion and compared to Sydney, a much more reasonable price!
Coffee was good but wasn't a fan of the fudge. It was bad but it simply wasn't good either.
The staff working there was attentive and seemed genuine on my interactions with them. A welcome change after the many not so great (to put it nicely) experiences in different places in Sydney.
Pilgrims is great enough that I already can't wait to return and maybe, just maybe, try a different dish. It's worth the long journey to get here!
Come for the food and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām from Texas. Us Texans Love our Meat, and we Love our Portions, but Iāll be honest, for a Vegetarian place Pilgrims has knocked it out of the Park! Normally, I wouldnāt be in a Vegetarian place being a meat lovin American, but my wife who is native Aussie insisted. The food tasted so GOOD, and Iāll say the Texas sized Portions were something to behold. Most Australian food Iāve had so far is small compared to what Iām used to, but since everything here is so fresh you can eat big portions without worrying about an early heart attack. I had a Halloumi Mushroom burger with sweet potato chips. Even though the fries were made of sweet potato they were actually some of the most memorable because it tasted just as good if not BETTER than some fries or āchipsā Iāve had in my life. The Juice here was also some of the freshest Iāve ever had and was absolutely delicious. Finally, the view of the ocean from here made it a great and memorable experience. In my life, thereās been decent food, good food, and memorably great. Iāll never go out of my way for decent, seldom for good food, but I never mind making the effort for a place that was memorable to me.
The next time I find myself in Cronulla, I guarantee you I will go out of my way to eat here once again. Thank you Pilgrims, for winning over a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat to see Pilgrims Cronulla back in actionānow in a fresh, beautifully designed location thatās a bit closer to the heart of Cronulla. While I do miss the scenic outlook from the previous venue, the new space more than makes up for it with its vibrant atmosphere and generous outdoor seating area. Itās clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating a welcoming environment.
We stopped by for lunch and had the Haloumi Burger and an AƧai Bowl with extra peanut butterāboth absolutely lived up to our high expectations from previous visits. The quality and flavor remain spot on.
One of the most welcome changes is the accessibility of the new spot. Being on ground level, itās now completely pram- and wheelchair-friendly, which makes a huge difference for families or anyone with mobility concernsāsomething that was a bit of a challenge at the old location.
Itās great to have Pilgrims back, and weāre looking forward to making it part of our regular routine again. Thanks for the warm hospitality and...
