Salt & Butter Riverview Café enjoys a scenic position by the water and clearly attracts a strong local following. The place was buzzing during my visit, with a high turnover of patrons and a lively, casual vibe that fits the riverside setting well.
The coffee was what you’d expect from Campos beans, reliable and well made. Nothing overly ambitious, but it hit the mark with the balance and smoothness that regulars will appreciate.
The big hash was a highlight. It delivered exactly what it promised: crispy bacon, golden potatoes, and well cooked eggs, brought together with a nicely made hollandaise sauce that had the right richness without being too heavy. It is hard to go wrong with a combination like that, but it was done with care and came out tasting just right.
The caramelised banana and ricotta hotcakes took a little while to come out, which is understandable as they are made to order. When they did arrive, they were light and fluffy with a good caramel flavour from the banana and a creamy lift from the ricotta. Worth the wait.
Service was brisk, though perhaps too much so. Staff were moving quickly, clearly trying to keep pace with the demand, but in the process, there was a moment where a waiter clearing our table inadvertently tossed scraps towards us, as seated diners. It was a minor incident but one that speaks to the need for a bit more attention, even during peak periods.
All in all, Salt & Butter delivers a dependable brunch experience in a lovely riverside spot. The food is thoughtful and well prepared, the coffee is solid, and with a little fine tuning in service, it could...
Read moreA nice little cafe nestled away near the river. Beautiful scenery and peaceful vibe with the palm trees and grassland around you right beside the river.
Lots of sheltered outdoor sections as well as a decent sized indoor section to sit. The vibe is chill and relaxed and cosy.
The seating is spacious and well spaced out with plenty of different seating options in different areas. I recommend the outside section overlooking the beautiful palm trees and peaceful river.
There is no table service; you need to go to the counter to order. But they bring out your food and drinks to your table. The servers are very kind and attentive and friendly.
The food is very fresh and delicious. Everything came out to us in good time and everything was fresh and perfectly hot and delicious. The hot chips and hash browns were so yummy and with a perfect crunch and soft on the inside. The toastie was yummy and everything else was delicious too. Quality fresh food, decent portion sizes, decent prices.
The coffee was good but not amazing. Good enough.
I would definitely recommend this place for a chill morning breakfast or lunch. The beautiful river and palm trees scenery...
Read moreWe visited Salt and Butter all the way from Melbourne with our children for lunch, and it was absolutely worth the 10-hour drive! This hidden gem exceeded all our expectations.
We ordered the Ham Hock Benedict, Shakshuka (Egg in Hell), Salt & Butter Snowing Avo, Ricotta Hotcake, along with coffee and smoothies. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with incredible flavors. The highlight for us was the Strawberry Matcha—it wasn’t overly sweet but had the perfect balance of flavors. It’s a must-try!
The food was delightful, the drinks were just as impressive, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable compared to Melbourne, where similar dishes usually cost more. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made the experience even more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for a unique spot with delicious food, great drinks, and good value for money, Salt and Butter is definitely worth the visit. We’ll be...
