I've never written a Google review. But I need to say this.
I went to get coffee before they closed 20 minutes before. The guy who takes my order apparently English is not his first language like mine. I tried to order Iced Chocolate and he asked me to skim ice? Skim milk? His pronunciation was hard to catch. Or my listening was not good. I didn't know that they put the ice cream in the iced chocolate. I asked again then he was almost yelling at me. He kept saying what do you mean? He’s customer service was very very rude. Face expression was like just get whatever and leave. And he and another staff giggling after I paid. And I was waiting for the drink in front of them and he just put the drink on the table saying nothing.
I am working at a busy cafe. I understand you guys want to close as soon as possible. Might annoying that customers come to order before they close. However, you don't need to say like that to the customer.
Did I say something rude to him? If you work in the hospitality industry you cannot treat customers like that. Terrible customer service experience I've ever had....
Read moreWe had not long sat down to eat breakfast in the outdoor dining area when we had to get up and leave as an off-lead dog owned by an inconsiderate patron was roaming under everyone's tables. My children were scared of the dog roaming in and out under our table so we picked up our food and drinks and left for a bench in the neighbouring green in an effort to eat in peace. Other patrons were getting up from their tables and doing the same. We would have happily remained seated in the cafe to eat our meals if the dog was on a lead and sitting by its owner, as were all the other dogs in the vicinity. I spoke to staff about the off-lead dog disturbing patrons but they didn't care and shrugged it off. I've been coming to Side Story regularly with my family since it opened in 2019 but we won't be returning when they allow off-lead dogs and their selfish owners to have priority of the dining area over loyal paying customers. Read moreThe person taking orders today around 4:15pm demonstrated poor customer service. He appeared rushed and maintained an unfriendly expression throughout the interaction. He barely paid attention while taking my order and didn’t make any eye contact, which I believe is essential for good customer service. I specifically requested skim milk, but I saw him preparing my matcha with full cream milk. When I mentioned it as he handed me the drink, he insisted it was made with skim milk and didn’t offer to replace it, likely due to being in a rush. The matcha latte, along with another coffee, was prepared in less than a minute and tasted mostly like milk — far from what a proper matcha should taste like.
