The sushi was fresh and enjoyable however I was disappointed by the charcoal skewers. For a place that markets itself as a charcoal skewers bar, I expected a more authentic grilling experience, but it didn’t seem like they used charcoal at all. The skewers didn’t have that distinct smoky flavor or the traditional grilled texture, and there was no visible sign of charcoal grilling—more like they were cooked in a pan and finished with a torch, which didn’t quite live up to expectations.
I also regret ordering the oysters; they were definitely borderline in terms of freshness, which made them a poor choice for the price.
The service at Sushi Hotaru also left something to be desired. When I asked for more water, the staff handed it to me rather abruptly, literally tossing it down onto the table with little care. No real concern, no apology, and I was still charged full price. I even had to ask to take off an item I obviously couldn’t eat. The whole experience felt dismissive and left me really...
